Chuck, you do realize their daily purses will not average out to $1 million a day at the end of the meet...right?

I dont really know or care either way. I was just taken aback that people expected them to actually pay out 1 million a day, every day.

Plus I think they may pay in excess of a million a day if Haskell bribe money is taken into consideration

They are even small time bribing trainers for the United Nations now.

Right in the conditions - it says....

They have been averaging $520k on Fridays, $890k on Saturdays, $750k on Sundays, and $886k on Mondays. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...3c&hl=en#gid=0

Given that their three or four biggest days are still to come, those averages will rise. They will probably fall short of the marketing $50mm in 50 days, but apparently $900k/day, doubling handle, and increasing runners per race by over 2 isn't good enough.

they have run one monday correct? it was memorial day. of course the purses were high that day. the point is that they are currently way under what was advertised and they will never be near 1 million a day.

that has nothing to do with doubling handle or increasing runners. the thread is about a claim that so far isnt close to being true and has zero chance to being true. i havent seen anyone in this thread talk about the meet being unsuccesful. just that their claim about purses isnt true.

wake me when you are done apologizing.

Do you have horses running there? No? Didn't think so. Therefore the purse structure is irrelevant to you. I'm not apologizing for ****, it's a focking marketing line. Hell, There isn't even 50 days from opening until labor day, it's 49 days. Additionally, there are only 3 Mondays and all are holidays so Memorial Day is a reasonable proxy for the other two. If you're that concerned about the analysis check the condition book for July 5th.

Perhaps you should educate yourself by reading some of the other threads on this topic. It's been very polarizing around here.

im pretty educated on the topic but thanks for the advice. will reading the other threads somehow make monmouths claims true?

im not trying to be a wiseguy, but so far in this thread ive been called a moron and told that since i dont own horses at monmouth i shouldnt be concerned with purse structure. this entire thing isnt a big deal as monmouth will still give away a lot of money and have increased handle.

however after reading some threads here about other circuits i cant help but think about what the response would be if the same claims were made by other circuits and were in fact overexaggerated.

What could possibly be polarizing about a track cutting back on the quantity of its product to the benefit of the quality of its product?

Hopefully it's a trend that catches on almost everywhere.

Presque Isle would be better off going back to 25 day racing meets and huge purses. The quality of racing, field sizes, and pool sizes will improve a lot.

Some racing employees will see their work days cut back sharply .. but so what.

Wow, Phil. Take it easy. You are so unbelievably defensive about this that you have lost all perspective.
