Different people approach it differently. Personally, I did mostly Win/Place and Exacta wagering with a few tri bets mixed in. I know it is a lot of money but one good exacta hit for a decent size bet can pay for your whole trip. This is the Breeder's Cup where $100+ exactas are not rare. You don't need to take crazy swings to make money.
