thats a tough question.

I guess I'd rather be born in Mexico with a functional body.. and than illegally immigrate into Tucson & sell blow and pot.

I would say that arguing against the US in the theoretical greatest country in the world poll would be pretty poor bet.

Denmark? LOL

yeah if you are lily white and dont get sea sick.

plus the US already has a Denmark. We call it Connecticut and Rhode island.

College education in Connecticut and Rhode Island is free? I didn't know that. I also didn't know Forbes ranked Connecticut and Rhode Island as having the best business environments in the world.

So free college and a good business environment are the standards? You should be a Republican.

For food I think the U.S. would be hard to top, because of the depth of the variety....at least in urban areas. Rural Italy might have better eating than the rural U.S., (lasagna>squirrel stew) but I think places like NYC and Chicago would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

Do they have great Italian food in Moscow? great Indian food in Buenos Aires? great Mexican food in Tokyo? Maybe they do - I'm honestly not sure - but somehow I doubt it.

i think everyone completely missed my point. it wasn't whether we're the greatest or not...it's why we can't get better talent where it's needed. are the sarah palins, george bushes, barrack obamas of this world the best we can do?? one's smarter than the other two...but is our current president really up to the task? i don't think he is. i don't think he's got enough 'bottom' to him. if he were a racehorse heading into the spring classics, we'd bet on others. he'd be the one who's talented, but short on seasoning. it's not just the president, who fills the cabinet and potentially several spots on the court. look at our reps, our senators. is this the best we can do?

I would guess for the same reason we can't get talent into Washington to work as staff: open public season on the smallest details of one's personal life, going back to birth. Many say, "No thanks" to that.

All Americans.

And nobody is talking about background checks. It's the beyond absurd intrusion into someone's personal life that has so many capable, accomplished people saying, "No thanks" to a few years of public service.

er, not background checks. family, what you did as a teen, you went to a party once, did you smoke pot? it's absurd. if our founding fathers were held to todays standards, washington would not have been allowed to lead our military due to his actions in the french and indian war. jefferson, don't even get me started. adams was the defense attorney for the brit soldier blamed for the boston massacre-just think if one of the defense attorneys for one of the terrorist suspects decided to run for office. sam adams, in debt up to his eyeballs. ben franklin, child out of wedlock. need i go on? yet we hold them up on pedestals, deservedly so, for what they did for country. but just think if they were around today.

LOL we had a Pres who smoked but didn't inhale, a coke lover and alcoholic and a guy who is pictured smoking a joint and can't find his birth certificate. All out before they were elected. And those are the last three!!!!
