That may be the most idiotic reasoning ever used considering that they arent even considered equipment in any jurisdiction except NY which only uses that designation to "ban" them. Especially considering that tongue ties which can also come off in the post parade or during a race arent considered reported equipment despite their far greater ability to effect performance.
Ironically I sat through a presentation a few years back at the International Lasix conference
held at Belmont where several reports praised the use of nasal strips in combating EIPH in a easy, safe and non-drug use way. Obviously no one from NYRA including 2 of the stewards who were in attendance was paying much attention.
