Byrne is now trying to figure out what to do with Take Charge Indy,he is in a DRF article saying I should have taken him to Tampa to get earnings HAHA

Mentions a TB Derby to Illinois Derby to KY Derby as his route

I'd love to know what all of three trainers were thinking skipping the Sam F Davis... You've got a maiden (who wasn't even the m/l fav in the mdn race he was cross-entered in) with 150K in graded earnings, practically a bubble horse already to get in, and they're now going to need 2 quality starts just to get the earnings to enter.

Doesn't Take Charge Indy already have about $100k in graded earnings?

What's the rush? With 3 straight defeats in graded stakes as a juvenile, he still has to prove he belongs. Doubt the Sam F. Davis would have answered that question.

Well according to all 3 trainers, they either wanted a 2 turn race or didn't want to ship to TB??

As for TCI ya he has alot of cash from the Juvy already, that is why I said he should have done it the new way. Run early, get cash and wait to the Derby. I think it is a joke too, that horse that peaked as a 2yr old get into the Derby but those are the rules.

They even could have ran him in the Holy Bull are easily picked up 3rd/4th place cash.

Just hope we don't here Byrne crying the week before that the horse who Won the El Camino Real, came in 3rd in the Spiral and 3rd in the Bluegrass got in HAHA

There's a solid chance his horse will wind up in one of those races. A good portion of his graded earnings have come on synthetic surfaces already.

So, you think Pat Byrne should have tried to get some more Graded Stakes in his first start and then either rest him up to the Derby or run in Allowance races for the next few months? This is nonsensical. His horse was making his first start of the year. He is well spaced for two more preps. If he doesn't get enough earnings, a second and third will easily accomplish this, then he won't be in the Derby. I highly doubt he will be whining in that case ( frankly, Pat never struck me as a whiner anyway ).

Well if I was TCI trainer I would have ran him in the Sam Davis OR Holy Bull, get some earnings then either go onto the TB Derby and the Illinois or poly race.

My point is if u have a chance to get some earnings early get it!!! I know that alot of people say if he doesnt run good in March or his last prep race he doesnt deserve to go BUT I would rather put some money on TCI who runs 3rd in the Illinois Derby than one of the Turf/Poly horses like Mr.Prankster LOL. I KNOW I KNOW Animal Kingdom won last year

Just look at what Asmussen is doing with Sabercat-he got his money, now he is gonna run him 2 times before the Derby and cross his fingers nothing happens before then. I would rather take that chance nowadays then run him 3 or 4 times before the Derby

You'd make a great modern day trainer. Why should horses have to prove they belong in the Derby? If they have the earnings just run them...
