Hopefully he recognizes it for what it really is. He needs to face his problem again and get back on track. For purposes of the game you just don't know what his impairments are on any given day for handicapping. Hopefully he gets some help before he has a catastrophe on the track for him and/or anyone in a race with him, let alone a car with his kids in it.
