Didn't cheat on his wife. This was way before his kid was born. The woman in question has been identified. She was (after she dated Letterman) an ex-girlfriend of the producer, who took info from her diary to try and blackmail Letterman. He said he needed a large sum of money, but didn't say why.

I misread it then. If this was before he was married, it is what it is....that was not my understanding.
