you're combining two religions in your history. it was c of e before the founders moved on, part of the whole reformation/counter reformation/civil war in england.

and didn't we have religious tolerance tests here? salem witch trials, puritan only enclaves? mass missionary 'attacks' on native americans? and now, we have those who want to attack the muslim religion in this country? yeah, we're really good at that 'all religions are welcome here' thing...matter of fact tim, you're one of those who judges religions different than your own-yet you invoke religions tolerance?! witness your attacks on somers religion. you're a hypocrite.

yada yada yada...just because you're mad at God doesn't give you the right to judge all Christians either. I believe I asked for Somers explanation, not for debate(as you both would have it)but because he has a problem with Christianity. I haven't differentiated some things merely due to lack of space...not because I'm lumping them all together. You continually post your musings, but I don't asnwer them with vitriol. I'm not the final authority on much of anything, so you best take it up with God. You've obviously decided God(big G) isn't going to run your life...swell with me.

Z is mad at God?

But you are an authority if you made your God an authority.
What if Z wants to take it up with her God?

i love p.j o'rourke. he's one of the best things conservatism has ever had. he can make an intelligent point and have you laugh at the same time.

i still have holiday's in hell and republican party reptile. i think i've lent out his other books and never got them back.

how did you pick as a siggy the one line where he sounds pissed off and hardly funny at all?

how can i be mad at something i don't believe in? and just because somer follows another religion, doesn't mean he has 'a problem' with christianity. it works for you supposedly, so that's good for you. but you might want to go study your teachings more, as jesus offered only love, compassion and forgiveness, as well as lack of being judgemental. do you feel you follow his teachings? i think i believe in all those things-but timmi, i never get the sense from you that you have any compassion for anyone who doesn't believe exactly as you do.

This is what my cousin would say:

I feel pity for you and just want you to know the Lord.
I love you and want you to be saved.

So what is one supposed to with that?
1) Be horribly offended and say how dare you foist
your beliefs and pity upon me.
2) Say, Thanks for watching out for me.

i don't get offended, i don't say thanks either. now, if they belabored the point, brought it up every time we met, that would get old.
one thing i had to get used to when we moved down here was the constant invites to church. in maryland, no one much cared where you went. but down here, there are so many churches vying for parishioners, everyone is always seeking new members it seems. i usually thank them politely for inviting me, but never go.

edit~ besides, i was raised roman catholic, and was baptized and then went thru confirmation. as long as i get last rites, i'm in.

tell him/her you'd love to discuss it further but you're late to the sacrifice and need to pick up a goat.

they probably won't bring it up again.
