It amazes me how people are so quick to back a 3 year old against older, mind you the best the world has to offer, the first time. Pletcher also doesn't talk about Eclipse awards, he wins them, and he's very high on EC, said he's the 2nd best yearling him and his father ever purchased. If this happens, the more experienced horse will get my money, but I say there is less than a 5% chance we even see this matchup this year.

![]() Tag has to be more itelligent than to face him against elders before the BC Turf.
Like you said Bill, I guess people don't realize the HUGE difference between the 3YO year and after. As good as EC was last year, he is 10 times better than that as a 4YO this year. |

Showing Up is better than EC was as a three year old. The one morning the two were out at Belmont together, Showing Up made him look like a little boy. That was the day Tagg realized SU can compete on the turf with anyone. Last edited by boldruler : 07-29-2006 at 09:54 AM. |

I call you immature because you talk of horses wearing "skirts". You come across as though you are still in 8th grade. I guess daddy's money has kept your sheltered from the real world for a long time, hence the reasoning behind why you have no idea how grown ups speak and have intelligent discussions. Pletcher NEVER works EC fast. The great majority of workouts that you see for EC are 4F in :50+ Im done having a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Good day to you and best of luck to SU the remainder of the year. |

Right now Showing Up has a long way to go before being in the league with English Channel. SU is coming along incredibly well though. It would not be a shock if he won the Turf Classic against the EC's and Caciques. None of those horses that just keep taking turns beating each other has proven to be exceptional. Winning against the Europeans though is highly unlikely for SU this year, but his 4yr old year is another story. He is no Barbaro, but he is a nice replacement. |

Both three year olds, Showing Up and Go Between will be just as good as the older horses in the fall. Showing Up already is and Go Between is getting much better quickly. |

![]() it takes an extra special three year old to beat older. and we have two of those?? i doubt it.
i don't believe showing up can beat english channel, and i don't believe he won't touch dirt again.

![]() Now with a sloppy track, I can see not betting on Bernardini or, at least, confidently betting against him. I'm not happy about this - obviously, I still think he's tons the best, but the track is now an equalizer. Bernardini may hate it or another horse may thrive on it. How depressing. I didn't think I'd have to cross my fingers for the Jim Dandy, but now I will.
