I am getting closer and closer to getting sucked into the Tin Man. friggin sucks because i know I am going to get bitten. It will be an awesome race call with him there at the end though. Dooley might have a heart attack

I am leaning the same way. Gomez and Pletcher probably will use Sunriver a bit early on to make sure TTM doesn't crawl along like he did last year, but TTM is not (as he demonstrated in the Shoemaker) a need-the-lead type. His loss in his last race - along with recent wins by After Market and Sunriver - should also help his odds. That stretch battle that TTM lost in his last start was to a horse that he was giving 10 lbs to that day, while After Market was getting 6 lbs from Lava Man in his biggest race to date.
As a bit of a longshot to maybe hit the board, I also like the Irish horse Pressing. He ran some decent races in Italy and I think he could be a factor here if he moves up a bit. Given that this is his first time on on the big L, a move up is certainly possible.

i really don't see The Tin Man getting in front again this year. i also didn't see it last year but it looks to me like he lost a step or two.
think this year it will go to one of the young guns. don't ask me which one yet because right now I see it going many ways. for me I think i'll play pick threes and spread in this race trying to beat The Tin Man and After Market.

Just out of curiousity as the Million seems one of those events that every horseracing person should eventually attend...do they make a week long event out of it similiar to the Travers Festival and Oaklawn's Spring Festival of Racing for the Arkansas Derby?

They flew a balloon around Chicago to spread the word (!) WOW!

No, really, it's not a huge thing at least from my perspective around here, but there are certainly some things to do. Arlington Heights usually has a sort of town festival of some sort in their downtown this weekend if I'm not mistaken. But it doesn't really become a huge deal for most people around here.

Really though, the Million seems like the kind of day you've got to get to once. It's really a phenomenal day of racing (well, moreso in some years past, but this year will have to do) and a great atmosphere at the park.

Doctor Dino has a big shot in the million. His April 29th 3rd to Dylan Thomas was described by the Racing Post as an "eye-catching return." Dylan Thomas returned from that race to take the GI Queen Elizabeth at even money. In his last, the SingaporeCup (GI), he finished 3rd again by 2 but Oracle West(2nd by a head to Vengeance of Rain in the ran 6thDubai Sheema and ranked 15th in the world in the new world rankings) No one else in the race has those kind of company lines. Plus, he's won on soft going , and is 3 for 6 at 10 furlongs.

I think they have in the past called it something like the "international festival of racing". i was never real sure where the festival was. in downtwon AP they have a little event tonight they now call "The Mane Event", its in conjunction with the Million but frankly it seems only loosely connected. they block off the streets, have food and music, raffles, gifts, stuff for kids, etc. sort of an outside party atmosphere that is literally right outside my building.
nothing like a weeklong event though.

I haven't been to those other festivals you mentioned but I'm guessing they're much bigger affairs than this.

Saratoga does stuff like that and more for both the Whitney & Travers, but than again, I'm pretty sure they are a racing atmosphere unlike any other.

It seems like the whole city of Hot Springs goes to the track the week of the Arkansas Derby. They promote that week really well.
