Gander, I've known Nick for years, In fact we did a public access show on cable T.V. in the Amsterdam area back ten years ago. We got a lot of crank calls and there was no seven-second delay. I agree with Mike, he must have thought you were a crank. As far as attitude, Nick is a easy going guy with a good sense of humor. Not stuffy like many so-called big time handicappers or people involved with horse racing. And looking like "son of sam ", most people who are faces in horse racing aren't that pretty either, myself included! Really, he's a good guy.

I dont doubt hes a good man. I was only kidding around, you have to accept my sense of humor. Sorry if it seemed like an insult, really I didnt mean it that way. I'm sure hes a big teddy bear.

I have listened to this show for years and am very aware of the crank callers, I sympathize with him and Tom for having to deal with it. I was actually quite serious as I know these 2 guys have been following NY racing for 30 years and would know about my old pal Iron Gavel. They were very rude to me on the phone but I can understand why!

And the Son of Sam comment isnt necessarily the worst insult in the world. I've seen a lot worse! He just resembles him a bit.

The funniest one I ever heard on that show went like this:
Caller- "hi, I was down at belmont Park last weekend and heard a rumor, I was wondering if you guys knew anything about it."
Nick- " Go ahead caller what did you hear?"
Caller- " I heard that **** ******(an otb tv guy who used to do a show with Jean edwards), takes it in the ***."
LOL!!! I was rolling around on the floor for hours afterwards. Classic.

LOL! I heard that too. I was dying. That same guy has made a few very funny calls. Best part is the look on Kling's face! LOL!

My favorite line from Son of Sam is when the killer is freaking out in his apt having one of his mental fits and he hears the dog barking and imagines that the dog is speaking to him. He says in that funny voice...

"Shut that dog up"

You guys are giving me some ideas for the payback that I am going to give to old Fat Boy on the River Downs show, I would like to be original, but I could just substitute Fat Boy's name in there, probably won't make the air with the delay though...
