Twilight Agenda won the Oak Tree Mile, Sea Cadet had just won the Donn and GP Handicaps and later won the Meadowlands Cup. Defensive Play later won the Excelsior. Argentine HOY Algenib later won the Golden Gate Handicap, fellow Argentinian Ibero won the NYRA Mile and the following year won the Met Mile. Past their prime In Excess and Fly So Free were also defeated.
