Enola got a dumb passed ride last out, but yeah, I expected more.

Plum Pretty though? Granted Songbird might be a tad overrated, but to say Plum is better is ridiculous.

let's be fair and real, Beholder is the Queen, and has been since age 2, her loss to Stellar Wind, was just that, a loss against a better horse that day, and she will win the rematch with Stellar Wind, as far as Songbird, my money is still on Beholder, she is still The Queen, Long live The Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was anywhere other than Santa Anita, I'd be more inclined to take a shot against Beholder. If Songbird was to go beat her out there, it would push an already great campaign into the stratosphere.

The budding rivalry between champions Beholder
and Stellar Wind will see its third round in the
$300,000 Zenyatta Stakes (gr. I),

trainer John Sadler is enthusiastic for his two-time grade I winner to again
take on Beholder, who could win the Zenyatta an
unprecedented fourth time.

Beholder equaled therace's namesake and 2010 Horse of the Year with a
third consecutive victory last year. Zenyatta won the
race in 2008, 2009, and 2010 when it was called the
Lady's Secret Stakes.

The pair will likely face off again in the Longines
Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), where they should
encounter another champion in Songbird.

well it looks like Stellar Wind is the better of the 2 now.

interesting analysis -
Beholder just lost to Chrome at SA...Stellar wind defeated Beholder,
Does that mean Stellar Wind could get to Chrome in the Classic...

Nah...I doubt it

all the fillies and mares should run in the classic...Beholder, Stellar Wind and Songbird.

with no colts worth a dam at this point in the year, you have Frosted as a contender, and perhaps Arrogate. In the Awesome again, Chrome jogged on home, shut down with 100 yards to go, in front of Dortmund who is a really good horse...Chrome made him look like a claimer

not only with the fillies and mares in the classic, would that make a better race for the ITM positions in the BCC, but it frees up other distaffers to make that race competitive as well .

Beholder has been more successful in the last couple of years chasing a target early. Inside draws have forced her hand early in the Vanity, Hirsch, and Lady's Secret, so presuming she settles into a stalking position in the BC, we will see definitively whether or not she's lost a step (the speed figures don't suggest it).

Furthermore, Stellar Wind is suspect to hold her form. She has been campaigned sparingly ever since she made her first 3 starts for Sadler in quick succession culminating in a defeat in the KY Oaks. She was all out at the wire and now has to recover enough to compete in 4 weeks time instead of her normal 8 weeks.

The interesting thing to anticipate is the pace scenario. I haven't followed the East Coast closely, but Cavorting is a closer as I believe Curling and Forever Unbridled are. Will there be anyone in there to match strides with Songbird early?

I also would anticipate a very aggressive ride on Songbird. Something like this. Though dont think Songbird is as good as the winner, and probably the horses chasing are better. But aint no way they gonna go slow and make it some turf race at the quarter pole.
