![]() With more and more states legalizing slots ,with some procedes earmarked for racing. I understand they basicly use 2 different formats. One, they use it to increase overall purses and another where they uses most of the funds for the state bred races. What Im asking here is what is the opinion of the members here as to the best way to benefit the TB industry?

Why even have a track when you can close the track and expand the casino on the grounds -- put in more slot machines -- more parking -- more restaurants -- and make much more per square foot than you ever could from having a track on the grounds? Corporations do the thing all the time -- instead of floating a failing division they just cut it loose. Close it down. Look at GP -- more geared to slots. Stronach hit the nail on the head despite the criticism. It is the way of the future for all racinos to emphasize the casino aspect and de-emphasize the racing aspect. It's all about the money. I go to the track and lose $500 and the track makes about $100. My wife loses $500 and the casino makes $500. Figure it out. |

![]() I couldnt agree with you more. Racing has to learn to stand on their own two feet, quickly. There are many issues that need to be adressed, first of all lowering takeout substantially.
