Default Exhale

whew, blew that field away. He's a half to Private Horde, who won the G2 Vanderbilt. Would love to see him hook up with E Z Warrior going 6F to a mile.

Yeah, looked really nice. I been waiting for this 2nd start for awhile now. That's actually Private Horde in my avatar so I'm a bit partial to Exhale.

Aww, I know the guy who co-bred Private Horde with his family. They sold the mare but he was so excited he texted me yesterday to watch the race but I totally forgot about it. Guess I know why he was so excited now. I hope the horse does big things.

Haha. Hey, Al, I am the guy.lol. Just joined Derby Trail a few weeks ago. He needs to quit standing in the gate, but certainly looks like a nice one.

Sorry, I stole him because I don't have HRTV and he called the race out to me while they were running it. Glad you didn't call him because I would have been out of luck...lol. I convinced him to join derbytrail awhile back. I would have figured that you knew that he was ManilaRose by now...

Not sure. All they said was they were going to stretch him out and were planning on the Santa Anita Derby. How they plan on getting there I'm not sure.

Exhale beat a pretty weak field. I can't believe the $2 tri paid $40 plus. I am sure the connections are going to try and stretch him out a little to see what he has. But this was a very good looking and professional performance.

$12 isnt all the bad considering Exhale was 1/5 or 30 cents on the dollar. The 2 and 3 were the only two other horses in the race.

Exhale might try Lewis Stakes

Exhale, a convincing winner against maidens in Monday's third race, may make his stakes debut in the $200,000 Robert Lewis Stakes on March 3, trainer John Sadler said. The Lewis Stakes, formerly known as the Santa Catalina Stakes, is a key prep to the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby on April 7.

On Monday, Exhale stalked the pace to early stretch before pulling clear to win by five lengths, finishing 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.91. "He got the lead with little effort," Sadler said. "I didn't want him to make the lead too soon."

Ridden by Corey Nakatani for CRK Stables, Exhale ($2.60) was making his second start. In his debut, he finished second to eventual San Rafael Stakes winner Notional in a maiden race at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting on Oct. 21.

Exhale missed a start at Hollywood Park in late fall because of a foot problem, according to Sadler.

"This is a horse with a lot of ability," Sadler said.

Sadler said that Exhale could start in an allowance race before the Lewis.

CRK Stables, Sadler, and Nakatani won Monday's Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes with Jump On In, the 4-5 favorite.
