Default NYRA bid up to $1.8 billion

This from the creative Australian group Capital Play.
http://timesunion.com/AspStories/sto...ate=12/27/2006

Also reported today that Empire Racing has "reached a mutual agreement with Jared Abbruzzese to purchase his shares in the organization. Abbbruzzese owned 6 per cent of Empire, said Robert Bellafiore, a spokeman for the group.

The lobbying commission is looking into whther Abbruzzese provided Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno with an illegal gift when he flew him between NYC and Albany on a private plane.

Earlier this month the AP reported that Bruno directed $500,000 in state grants over the past two years to a private company linked to Abbruzzese.

Bruno will help decide which group gets the lucrative state franchise to operate thoroughbred racing in NY."

Bruno has recently disclosed that the FBI is investigating him for his business interests.

They were disqualified, by the Ad-Hoc commitee, from bidding. They were also an off-shore rebate facility that was banned by NYRA ( as per the State appointed monitor ).

They might as well bid $357 Billion.

You're bid is certainly as tenable as the one from Capitol Play.

Apparently Capital Play is saying they were disqualified by a techicality. They are going to plee to the state legislature. In my honest opinion, they already know who is going to be awarded the franchise. I don't know who it is, but "they" do.

Just what I always wanted...a hotel room overlooking the breathtaking Big A and the surrounding neighborhood.

After getting on the wrong train on Wood Memorial day and walking a mile in the pouring rain and sleet through the neighborhood that has houses with bars on the windows...yes. It's no Saratoga.

It's mostly just a working class neighborhood. It's certainly not Saratoga but if you went there as often as I used to, and walked that " wrong train " route as often as I did, you would get used to it.

I think Aqueduct gets a bad rap.

I'm sure it is better than my first impression on a dreary day...it's just a bit startling when you get off a train and don't know exactly the type of neighborhood you've strolled into.

It was a bit depressing to see Aqueduct, so many simple cosmetic things that they have just let slip by and no longer care for.
