![]() Howdy Scav!
Back and forth on mail, email and derby trail mail! Sam is back in training as of two weeks ago. Doing fine. Hope to have him back in the races in late summer/early fall. Race plans up in the air at this time. That's a Given developed a fever last Monday (June 5) after a lack-luster work out the day before. We decided not to enter him in the Belmont after that lack-luster workout. Not sure what his next start will be. Not Phone chipped a shin bone in his front left leg in the Jaiper. He undergoes surgery tomorrow (Weds) at Rood & Riddle (Dr. Bramledge). Prognosis is good ... should be back at the track in 40 days. Ice Cool Kitty (2nd in Bowerie last start) was scratched last week b/c of a fever. Wow, how's that for some good news??!! ![]() Have a first time starter in the 9th at CD tomorrow ... "Cash Me In". Tom Van Berg trains. Tom likes him, but I'm not recommending at this point. Just have no idea about his ability. He should be at least 20-1. Cheers to all! Lansdon |

Hey LDog!! tough stretch to have so many of your horses sidelined with injuries/sickness. Hope your runners return to the track healthy!

![]() Scuds called it with Not Phone, he said he didn't look right in the stretch. Good to hear it isn't a significant injury and he is back on the track soon.
Good to hear about Sam also, hopefully it was a blessing in disguise and he comes back bigger, stronger and gritter. Looking forward to watching Cash Me In, should like the weeds. |

![]() Scuds - Not at all, in my opinion.
Not Phone has had a long history of physical issues. I purchased him privately in Argentina in 2001. He was Group placed and showed potential. He's been a very fun horse to own, winning impressively in CA and NY. If you look at him from a comformation standpoint, though, he "stands over" his front shoulders somewhat. This has caused some physical issues w/ his front legs (specifically his front left leg). Tomorrow will be his third (minor) operation in that area. Hopefully he will recover well from the surgery and resume training w/in 40 days. I love this horse ... he has an unbelievably gentle disposition for a colt (you can stand in the stall with him and he'll rest his head on your shoulder). He's 8 this year, but he was born in late November (Southern Hemp breeding season), is lightly raced, and probably has a year or so left racing at top levels on the turf (one mile or less). LR |
