Default Copyright and Posting

I got the college kids to stop posting here. Now you people need to learn to stop doing the following.

1) You need to provide links to stories.
2) Rumors require links
3) You can't copy an entire story and just say it came from somewhere.

I had a real problem back in May with rumors that were started on the internet and on a radio show about a horse.

These links are examples of the problems I see here. Enough. I don't have the time to police your website. Get some new moderators that do the job correctly or shut down the site.

I had a problem with the owner of this site spreading rumors on his radioshow, when he was 100% wrong, and I called in and corrected him. I don't have time to sit here and correct this site 24-7.

Why do you have your panties in a bunch over this citation nonsense...

If you have such a big problem all of the sudden with this message board and its owner, I suggest leaving it.

Apart from the HOL story (about track condiditon) the links you provided don't seem to point to "issue threads." One asked for people's opinions on Beyer's editorial and the other was about Collmus being made the new GP announcer. True the Collmus/Stauffer thread should have included a link in the first post but the poster was obviously right, even about how Stauffer was informed.
As for the HOL thread, it may have been conjecture but the fact is it was all true. The story eventually came out and confirmed what was said here. I spoke to an owner with horses at HOL and confirmed the rumor for myself.

The fact is that unless anything is confirmed in print, it's all hearsay. I could post that I was at AQU on Saturday, saw Blackthroatedwind several times, spoke with Rick Mettee about Discreet Cat and Ashkal Way and exchanged friendly greetings with John Lee and it may or may not be true but none of it will ever make the DRF or the B-H, so you'll just have to believe me or not.

Are you people really this slow. It doesn't matter if it is right or wrong, you can't post things without a link. These are jobs and people's careers you are talking about.

Wait until the story is confirmed or there is a link.

And you can't say something and just say there is a story about it on DRF or Bloodhorse. They are publications and need credibility, and you saying a story is somewhere MUST have a link. IT IS THE LAW.

I had an issue with come of you posters back in May and you people still don't learn. You were 100% wrong about that issue and now you are 100% wrong again.

Do I need to report this site to the DRF?

Do you even realize that someone on this board is a very close friend of the chairman and publisher of the DRF?

1--george, feel free to post rules and regs for YOUR board when you set one up. kind of rude for a guest to try to set house rules.
2--steve already informed everyone not to cut and paste stories that have to be paid for from drf and other sites.
3--if it's a rumor how the hell would it have a link?
4-there are moderators here. you're not one of them.
5--this site didn't draft you, feel free to find a place more to your liking.

Rumors are not against the law nor is discussing them in any type of forum, whether it be print, internet, radio, etc.

I understand that if I read an article I want to share, I must post a link.

If I am refering to an editorial to open a conversation it is a courtesy to post a link.

There is a difference, in one, I'm "breaking news" to the group and verification is important. In the other I'm commenting on someone else's commentary and asking others to follow suit.

If you have had issues with libelous posts, feel free to contact the admin and take action to sue the offender. I agree that posting scandalous comments about someone behind the cloak of a BB is lousy and should be considered a crime. OTOH, there are enough insiders in the industry here that sometimes a poster gets real, true info before it breaks in the trades. (I knew about the Excelsior story last Tue before any sites had it up but saw fit NOT to post it.) I posted above about some people I saw at AQU on sat. If any of them wanted they could come on here and deny that they were within 100 miles of AQU on Sat and attempt to make a liar of me. What could I do?

I think this just goes over your head. You just don't get it and probably never will. Sad.

While I'm not as close to Crist as the poster referred to, I am friendly with him as well. Out of respect for the DRF and the laws of copyright, I chose never to post content from "subscriber side" articles from the Form. Many of the editorials are subscriber only and are often great fodder for discussion. If I post a comment on them, I can oly hope that other members have read the piece in question and are willing to join the fray.

Are you actually trying to intimate that if I were to create a post that read "there is a story on CNN's website about that New York city groom shooting!" without posting a link to said story, I would be actually breaking the law?!

Laugher of the year my friend. Well played.

I am sure Dutrow appreciates your inference that Kip Deville is juiced. Where is your source GW?

From my years of posting on the (once-good) DRF board, I feel it only fair to share some wisdom I've gleaned... really only because I do like this board, enjoy reading it, like the people I've met from here, and even get a kick out of some of the drama.

Posters like this keep going and going as long as they get responses.

Seriously.

It's a MESSAGE BOARD, have no legal fear, post whatever you want, but don't reward the bad seeds.
