Default Boca Grande

Anyone else really excited about this one for next year? She looked pretty good winning the Demoiselle today for that old combination of Smith/McGaughey/Phipps.

I love Shug. I'm rooting for him in the next race as well.

She was really impressive - it takes guts for a horse, let alone a juvenile, to boldly come through on the rail. Once she did, it was over -and she finished pretty well, too -she didn't plod home. Yes, I'm definitely looking forward to her races next year; she should be even better. Plus, it's easy to root for her, being a Phipps filly.

I made a crack at Smitty in Selections thread, but something happens to him when he puts on the black tunic and cherry cap.. He turns back the clock..

That was quality ride today...

I was too.... I think Sightseeing will end up being a good one.. He was travelling pretty easily, then checked when he was making a move, he never seemed to recover.

Sightseeing is a bum, Kiri, but I would take Boca Grande over any 2YO filly on the dirt in the country. Great ride and sweet trip but she looked pretty sweet. And, it isn't as though her competition is too steep anywhere.

I suppose you're right about Sightseeing, could be another Defer waiting to happen. We'll see what happens at Gulfstream...

The Phipps' clan better be greatful that the late, great Ogden Phipps privately purchased Our Country Place out of a sale. This filly is yet another good one for them out of a daughter of her... Pleasant Home, Pine Island...

i wonder if they'll send matlacha pass back to arch...

also, they said the boosted arch's fee...but then the listing of stud fees on drf from claiborne didn't even show him...hopefully just an oversight, and not anything to worry about.
