Default My trip, Scavs Vegas recap style

Nothing is ever gonna top Scavs vegas trip, but heres mine with the good, bad, the lucky, and the ugly.
Monday- prepare for trip by doing laundry, cleaning out the car, and getting an oil change. At Jiffy Lube meet up with Kiarin Mc's brother, who tells me Invasor has never trained better in his life than he is now.
Tuesday- Leave for Louisville at 6:45 Am. Long drive and get into town at about 8:00 Pm. Friend has very graciously offered me use of his condo all week as he won't be in Kentucky that week. Get there and the place is great(other than no internet, which sends me into frustration mode). Lans says head over to his house for a few beers. Go to bed late after studying Wednesday's cards.
Wednesday- Head over to the track. Hit a few races but take two horrific beats which send me into tantrum mode. Play a late pik-3 at Aqueduct and start off with a 56 dollar horse(Zelna J) in a race I spread out and then get beat a head with a bad ride in the 8th race with a 6-1 shot and watch with total disgust as a 13 dollar horse i used in the last wins the race. Pik-3 returns 4951 and mine wouldn't have been much different. This is after being alive in big pik-3's in the CD 3rd race with 6 of 10 betting interests and losing by a nose in a blanket finish where the only horse I didn't have in the blanket wins.
Go home pretty pissed off, talking to myself and study the next days races to try again.
Thursday- Can't download the TG sheets because the computer in the clubhouse at Condo complex doesn't have Adobe acrobat. Ask the lady if she can let me download Acrobat and said that kids in the complex use the computer for bad things in the past and therefore nothing can be downloaded onto it. I appeal with logic and common sense that Adobe can be used for nothing bad. She says sorry so I leave muttering things about inbreeding in that part of the world. have to go to Fedex Kinkos(Thanks to Steve for suggesting that) and pay 20 cents a minute to go on the net and copy down the sheets off the pc screen while people behind me on line keep saying "are you almost through? over and over again. Leave muttering more things about inbreeding.
Get to the track and realize I've left the house without my wallet and it will take an hour to go back to Condo and get it and come back. Borrow two hundred bucks from Lans and hit a few races before playing the late pik-4 and going 5 deep in the first leg and missing Sciacca bomb first time starter. Watch with horror as the next three legs come in with 22-1 shot lady Jove completing the pik-4. late pik-3 pays 777 dollars for two bucks which I have, but pik-4 even with shortest one of the 5 horses I used in the first leg had to have paid 4 grand. leave the track muttering to myself again. head to Jeff Ruby's for dinner where Lans has invited a group of us. Walk in the door and first guy who says hi is Edgar Prado whos there a few folks. have a sensational dinner(anyone who is ever at Louisvillehas to eat there, great food and atmosphere) while watching the big Louisville-WV college game.
head home and study Friday's Aqueduct carryover determined to hit it.
Friday- Walk into the suite and declare we can't miss Aqueduct's pik-6 and we don't. Pays about ten grand including the 12 pik-5's we have. Only problem is that I get absolutely destroyed at CD. Blanked on cashing tickets there and lose my ten percent of the pik-6 after taxes and more.
Skip the dinner party that night to go home and prepare for the BC.
Saturday- Wake up refreshed and get to the track early to beat the traffic. Determined that this is gonna be my day. Steve walks in to say hi and tips me off that they have scraped the rail and that the track will play different than it has been.
Play a spread out pik-3 with presses on the first 3 races(2 undercard races and BC Juvy filly race). get two faves and then Dreamin of Anna who I didn't press(pressed Dollase's horse and also used Quick Little Miss and Cotton Blossom) and cash a ticket that represents a loss of 50% on what i spent.
Dittoed the next pik-3 where I tossed in Street Sense based on the bias that Steve clued me in on and I observed in the first race. Also started pik-4's in the 3rd race. SS wins and I get the pik-3 which pays ok and am alive in the pik-4 and start thinking here we go baby!!!!!! I'm gonna get em now!!!!
Key Film Maker in exactas in first two slots with Oujia Board and the French filly the 9 horse. Catch the exacta and am alive in the pik-4 to for horses in the sprint, Bordanaro, Henny, Pomeroy, and Bling. I'm really on my way now, or so i think.
Play the sprint in new pik-3's and tris keying pomeroy underneath and on top and also keying War Front 2nd and 3rd while using the same 4 horses I have going in pik-4 in new pik-3's. Watch with horror as Pomeroy almost falls down and I know before they even hit the turn that I'm destroyed. Down big for the trip, and only 4 races left.
Start out pik-4's in the mile and foolishly cut out Miesque's Approval because I've taken a beat in the last race. Watch him jog home and am sure that this trip can only end in disaster now.
270 bucks left in the bankroll now from the original 3100 I started with on the trip. Can only hope to get a little back now. Doesn't look good.
Decide to go "all in" in the Distaff. Push the whole 270 in on pik-3's and tri's.
Use Round Pond, Happy Ticket, Pool land, and Pine Island/ 5 deep in the Turf/ bern, lawyer Ron, and Invasor as my only press in the Classic.
Use those 4 over balleto for 2nd and 3rd in tris with a bunch of others and come back and press those 4 around balleto for 2nd and 3rd for another 2 bucks. I'm all in and the race is off. Watch the race and its bittersweet, I'm alive in the pik-3 with the longshot Pond but know I've blown the trifecta when balleto hangs even worse than usual. Didn't use Asi for a nickel anyway so I'm not too pissed. Inquiry sign goes up and my heart skips a beat as I immediately realize that it must be on Asi Siempre. Watch the head on and start screaming "take this horse down!!!!!". Spend ten anxious minutes out on the balcony of the suite staring at the tote board and praying it goes black for a moment, which would mean they are resetting the order of finish. Giving up hope figuring they don't wanna tinker with a BC outcome when all of a sudden the tote board goes black. Numbers reappear the way i need em to and I jump 10 feet in the air when they post the tri payout of 4355 for every two. Had given that play to others in the suite and a high five celebration begins.
Bet the late DD with the same 5 horses I have in the Turf into lawyer Ron and press Invasor, no Berns on the DD ticket. Also key Th Approval for 2nd and 3rd in tris with the other 4 horses. Th craps out but have the winner in the pik-3 and DD.
Key tris with Invasor on top of LR and bern for 2nd and 3rd with all and with all with LR and Bern 2nd and 3rd. Then flip flop LR and bern over Invasor for 2nd with all for 3rd in the tri.
Scream deliriously as I can see Invasor is the winner at the head of the lane. Double pays 191 and pik-3 pays 2721, and tri pays 695. A horse I ridiculed before the race holds 3rd and for the 3rd time that day I am humbled by someone from the board, Asi with Sniper(lets face it she may have won the race had she gotten through), CQ with Eurobounce and Sniper, and now Premium tap. First thing that goes through my mind is that i owe Dunbar props and have to eat that as well.
Miracle comeback is followed by a night of wine drinking with friends that are such great folks that i really don't deserve them. Wine consumed cost as much as a new car, 12 empty wine bottles litter the bar counter.
Leave Lans house on Sunday morning early very hungover but happy for the long drive home. Lay up in Buffalo, go out to dinner and watch Peyton manning work his magic.
Arrived home last night and counted the days(173 to be exact) until I leave again for the Derby in that magical and special place called Kentucky, the greatest place on earth I know of. Its where people love horses, sports, a good time, and are the most generous and kind people on the planet.
