Default Props to Sniper on Asi Siempre

Props to Sniper on saying that Asi had a shot in the Distaff. Quite frankly she may have won the race had she got through the first hole, even though RP won easily Asi may have gotten her.
I was wrong, and it took a lucky break on a dq for me to cash.

I told my friend he needed to be checked into a mental institution when he told me she could win...

He then returned the favor when I told him I thought Lawyer Ron had a shot...

They were right, we were wrong, I have no problem with admitting that. And man were we wrong, I think if she gets through the first hole she actually wins the race.

Unhappy Am I Seeing Things

Is It Just My Sour Grapes (was Dq'd From A Biggie), Or Was It True That To Me It Looked Like Happy Ticket Was The Punch Drunk Sailor Girl That Instigated The Contact That Got Asi Siempre Taken Down. While She Was The One Weaving To And Fro In The Stretch Run. Thanks, Just Checking My Vision.

It's too bad she didn't try dirt either as the Distaff division definitely could have used it.

Not sours grapes. I was not involved with Asi Siempre or Happy Ticket, and watched the head-on many times during the inquiry, and I thought it was a terrible DQ and if anyone was guilty ( which is questionable ) it was Happy Ticket.

Methinks the stewards ( I have to be nice because the head steward is my friend ) were thrown by Asi Siempre weaving through the lane looking for a seam, and the appearance of weaving made them fail to see it was Happy Ticket's duck out that actually exacerbated the " foul ".

There should probably have been no change.

THANK YOU!!! I thought I was just being biased because I lost when Asi got taken down.

Look she was gonna perhaps win if she ever got through early in the lane, and the bumping didn't affect the order of finish, but she threw one hell of a body block and had to come down. Leparoux had to do what he did, but you can't bump into another horse while trying to create a hole for yourself.
I don't disagree that the order of finish would have been the same, or that Asi may have been best in the race, but i truly thought she had to come down for a blatant foul.

Thanks although I discounted her when the odds weren't high enough for my taste. My point was more that the good turf mares this year were better than the best distaff mares. I think the Beyers of the BC races certainly reflect that. Whether Asi Siempre would take to the dirt was anyone's guess but I didn't think it should surprise anyone that she could beat Happy Ticket at Keeneland and that with her running style in a speed laden race she shouldn't be discounted entirely in the Distaff.

I don't know if u caught it but on the other forum, I picked her to be in the top four for this race. She was easily the best closer in the field and it was going to set up perfectly for her. I agree with u that the best turf females this year were better than the best dirt ones and that's why I had suggested sending Wait a While to this race instead of the F/M Turf. I know she's proved to be much better on the grass than the dirt but I figured that some of that could be due to maturity and that if she was able to run at even 80% of what she does on grass, she'd have a good shot. If the Distaff had been 10f, I would have wanted Ouija Board there too.

I know it looked like Happy Ticket came over on Asi Siempre from that front camera angle, but they showed a side view and Happy Ticket was actually well clear of Asi Siempre when she drifted out a bit. I agree with the ruling even though it's a shame that something like that had to happen in a BC race. . .

Yeah, I only had her sixth in the end although I am of the opinion that considering the brutally slow time of the race if there hadn't been injuries Round Pond would have been third.
