Default Chrome to England

Just heard Art Sherman on the Roger Stein show. The owners are taking him to R.A. Sherman sounded devastated.....these owners are idiots.

Agree. Seems like they are squeezing the lemon dry. I guess after Ascot is Hong Kong?

Of course we complain if they don't stick their neck out and complain when they do.

Its absolutely disgusting how they handled this also. Lets take Art all the way to Dubai and then get sold by Euro interests on why they should run at Royal Ascot and then blindside the hell out of him.

Sometime people just don't know how hard this game is or what they have, and its just too bad for the horse.

For Art, its like a family member just kicked over from a heart attack on vacation, and people are not talking enough about the horse. Horses are generally routine based, and now he is going to the middle of Europe where they do things COMPLETELY different how things are done here. Horse isn't gonna know what planet he is on.

The thing I find interesting is that this isn't Colburn but this other nitwit Martin, whom is supposedly majority owner, yet during the hoopla if I recall correctly, he didn't want the spotlight at all.

Its just all around sad from all aspects, that someone with the golden ticket turns it into a paperbag.

(I'll be honest and say I'm a little disappointed for selfish reasons because once he gets drilled at Royal Ascot, it will mean that when these idiots insist that he goes to the Arlington Million, he will be 20/1 in the Million, instead of 3/1)

No active Kentucky Derby winner running in America is ever 20/1, whether Chrome or any Derby horse in recent times.

Anyways, I'm fine with the decision. No one cared when Verrazano or Animal Kingdom tried.

They didn't have the fan base this horse has. No one cared where they went really.

They're new owners who hit the lottery with their first horse. They're making mistakes lots of new owners make, the difference being they have a really good horse so they get to make them on a much bigger scale. Right now they're having fun, and think they're a lot better at this ownership thing than they actually are. They'll get a solid dose of reality with their next few animals, and either start to figure it out or get out of the business.

I feel really bad for Sherman, too, but then again, as new owners, DAP also didn't know enough to sell a majority percent interest and give the horse to a big name trainer after he won a few races, which is what a lot of more experienced owners would have done. So a terrific horseman who has paid his dues got to take a horse to the Derby. Whatever else happens with Chrome, for the rest of his life, Art Sherman is the trainer of a Kentucky Derby winner.

Art was sad for the groom who isn't going and has been with the horse since day one.

Default Sherman

Bad enough the mess after the Belmont, at least Art Sherman was there showing grace in defeat.. This move seems incredibly disrespectful to a class act.

I liked the connections less after the Belmont as did many, but I like them even less now and didn't think that were possible. The only hope I have that Chrome does well is that he's able to overcome a lot and doesn't seem bothered by much of anything. It will be interesting of course to see how it all works out and if he ever steps foot on American soil again.

When he gets drilled in Ascot, and comes to the Million, he will be 15/1 or greater, or at least should be.

Supposedly that is the plan so we will see.

Dragging Art to Dubai gave him a real shot at 600k and a world class good time and also exposed him to the international community. So he only made 200k for his part in training the horse and got a to train the favorite in the worlds richest race. Look its sucks and I get it and would never do it but its a business and Sherman has made a lot of money for his services (600+k)
