![]() The Hollywood park thread had me thinking.... How do they manage to keep Pimlico going? Every year I walk out of there after the Preakness wondering if this is the last Preakness Ill see in Pimlico...
In the past I had heard of rumors of moving the Preakness to Monmouth Park.. Which Id actually be OK with since thats 15 mins me and Pimlico is 3 plus hours. But that Preakness trip I make every year is a great one. Love the Baltimore inner harbor... On a side note the Derby has a great undercard, the Belmont has a great undercard, the Preakness has a terrible undercard.. There needs to be some revamping there... |

![]() With stability in S. Florida, Stronach Group seeks momentum in Maryland
By Karen M. Johnson https://www.thoroughbredracing.com/a...entum-maryland With the new racing model in South Florida off to a flying start, TSG is also looking to improve operations at their two Maryland tracks, Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course. To that end, TSG’s chief operating officer, Tim Ritvo, has spent a considerable amount of time in Maryland in recent months. Among the projects Ritvo has overseen is the ongoing construction of 300 new stalls on Laurel’s backstretch. Also part of the $7 million investment by TSG at Laurel is the building of new lavatories for men and women on the backstretch, and the installation of security cameras, both on the backside and frontside. Other enhancements and renovations extend to both the grandstand at Laurel and Pimlico. The first floor at Laurel has been outfitted with more than 150 new flat-screen televisions and betting carrels. At Pimlico’s Sports Palace bar, walls were removed to afford customers better views of the racetrack. Ritvo is also looking at the bigger picture and is aiming to strengthen the racing product in Maryland, making it more attractive to bettors. Ritvo said he is in talks with horsemen and management from neighboring states, Delaware and Virginia, in an endeavor to create a unified racing circuit with tracks there and in Maryland. The concept is for a coordinated year-round racing schedule in the Mid-Atlantic, under one racing office, that will bolster field size.

![]() What's so bad about the place, sure it's old but what's wrong with that.
As far as the triple crown goes they put on the best show of the three. |

![]() Pimlico is like a haunted house on Coney island. I have a good time at the preakness every year but it offers nothing in comparison to alot of other tracks. Its lower level..closer to a mountaineer then a keeneland. I'm pretty sure they haven't as much as changed a light bulb there in the past decade I've been going

![]() I may be a little biased but the first time I went I had seen an advert in the DRF for a contest for kids to the cup.I had my son enter the contest which involved writing an essay. He won tickets for the preakness the year Smarty Jones won and they showed myself and my family a great time.
I have been back three times since on Preakness day we get seats in the grandstand which are not too expensive decent food and drink at the seats and just an overall decent vibe. |
