Default People who don't watch racing are so cute...

I was invited to a Kentucky Derby party hosted by people I don't know by a friend who is going. When I accepted she emailed back, "Great! My husband and I will get there around 8PM!"

Hee hee hee.

I did let her know. They'll be arriving at 5 instead.

They are Zenyatta's fan base.

On a positive note I do hear from many old friends who know little about racing twice a year, a day or two before the Derby and a day or two before Breeders Cup.

And they're not looking for advice on how to make a mint julep, how to dress or what to eat. So there is hope.

Well, at least they list getting dressed (#3) above getting drunk (#4). Though reversing that order would probably make for a much more interesting #1.

Actual conversation from a couple of years ago at my local Montana OTB:

Random patron: "Should be an interesting Kentucky Derby this year".

Me: "Yep, plenty of competitive horses, for sure".

Random Patron: "By the way, where are they running it at this year?".

Nuff said.............

How long before CDI gets something passed, where establishments can't call it a Derby Party, like the NFL where they say you can't call it a Super Bowl Party?!!! ;-)
