Default R1 SA - to DQ or not to DQ

My view:

R1 at SA today, the #1 horse stays straight as a string through the stretch, and gets bumped repeatedly by the favorite #3. The #2 caused a lot of the bumping - but she finished 3rd.

Now, was the 3 horse the best in that race? probably, but what exactly did the 1 do the warrant a DQ? The #1 horse seems to have stayed in his same path around the turn and into the stretch. Seemed like good race riding to me.

They DQ the #1 to second.

I thought the number should have stayed up. When the 3 wanted to come out in upper stretch, there was insufficient space. That is far more visible on the back-end angle that they showed during the inquiry. From there, the 3 initiated all of the contact as the 1 stayed straight.

It was a terrible DQ. The 3 tried to get through a hole that wasn't there. The 2 came out into him. The one did the least of the group and gets taken down. A horrible call.

I thought it was a good DQ. The 1 came over as the field turned into the stretch. You can see the jockey on the 1 yank the reins trying to get the horse to come in a little. That was what initiated the contact. The 2 did come out a few times and the 1 was running straight but the initial contact warranted the DQ i thought.

But it doesn't seem fair to award the rider of the 3 with the win because he put himself in that bad spot.

Bad DQ. The 1 might've come in a fraction at the top of the stretch but from there on it was the 2 drifting out and the 3 trying to go through a hole that didn't exist. If anything, the 3 interfered with the 1 most, bumping into her backside several times near the wire.
