Yeah he probably will. My question is what they do with him after that? My guess is that they will point him for the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct in November. That would leave a little layoff, but for a horse who has been as fragile as he has been, that really would be the optimal situation.
He'd have to face Silver Train there, who is pointing for that race. That would be a very nice matchup.

He'll smoke Silver Train like a cheap cigar. You probably know better than I do, but I would doubt Dutrow wants it with this horse.

I like Silver Train in that matchup. Check out the fractions he ran in the Met before you dismiss him so fast.

Ateam,
I dunno know about that. I dunno know about that at all.
My experience with unsound horses is that they run their best races with no pressure. Stretch duels have a way of getting to them. The extra exertion sometimes becomes their undoing. Hes another one I wanna see looked in the eye before I annoint him the second coming, and I really love the horse.
Hes never been battle tested though. If you think he'd just walk by a horse like Silver Train without being pushed to the limit you and I disagree.
As a matter of fact, thats exactly the kinda horse who could beat him. One thing about Silver Train is thathe is one ofthe gamest horses I ever saw. hes been in jeopardy of being beat 3 times in grade one races, and each time he held on or fought off his opponent. Hes one of those horses who knows what his job is and knows where the finish line is. He ain't no pushover, hes game and hes fast.

I like Silver Train a lot, but he's not on Discreet Cat's level to me.

Well, if those two go to the Cigar Mile, Lawyer Ron is definitely off of my win list for that race...

I thought this would be a good spot for Lawyer Ron, but no way can he beat those two monsters. Still, a third or a fourth (depends on who else shows up in that race) in a GI race would be better than an off the board finish in the BCC.

Silver Train is my favorite sprinter/miler in a long time.
I like any Dutrow horse, but especially this one.

unfortunatetly, it does not matter.
if Discreet Cat is sound enough for Godolphin to run him in a race, he is simply too damn fast to lose.

Silver Train has been nothing but impressive in his last 2 wins,
but DCat is on another planet.

If the Cigar Mile was at Belmont it would be a great matchup. ST is a nice horse away from BEL and a FREAK at BEL. The Cigar Mile is at the big A which has not been as kind to Train.

Default Finding Foes for Discreet Cat

It's 3:43 and still no entries up for Sunday. They must be scurrying to try and find enough horses for the Jerome.

Thanks, they get equibase to take over their website and then can't even get the entries on equibase.com.

Go Nar!

Nice weight allowance in this race. I think 9lbs to Noonmark is fair. I wonder if New York will allow show betting in this race.

Wow! A handicap where the best horse is giving significant weight to the lesser lights! Do you think this will catch on? <sarcasm>

lol

glad they finally came up with some kind of system to equalize fields between the very good and the not quite so good....hey, maybe it'll even encourage those with 'lesser' horses to take on the big guys.
