Default Shameful drops another good looking debut winner for Baffert

This one a 2yo debuter by Empire Maker for Baffert today. She was certainly not as fast as Shameful's other two (Indian Blessing and Roman Threat) but she was along late after a very slow start.

Here's the link: She's #6

Shameful won her debut at Santa Anita going 5.5 furlongs for Baffert and paid $15.20 to win.

Shameful's dam Lady's Legacy won her debut at Detriot Race Course in a Michigan Bred maiden claiming race. She scored by 6.5 lengths and paid $12.80 to win. She never won another race, and finished her career 1-for-23 with most of her defeats coming at Detroit Race Course.

Shameful's 2nd (Indian Blessing, Roman Threat, and Maker or Breaker's 3rd dam) was 2-for-42 lifetime and was once 140-to-1 odds in a $5,000 claiming race at Detroit race course.

Nice to see a pedigree talked about as "regal" where the 2nd dam was a 1-for-23 Michigan bred who debuted for a tag in state bred races at DRC in the mid 90's.

My bad on her age. The week-long Bath Salts trip continues.

Shameful has almost dropped the cycle now. Indian Blessing won her debut at age 2. This one today at age 3. Roman Threat won his debut earlier this year at age 4.

That was an impressive finish, especially considering the bad start.
Why was she such a strong favorite making her debut - was it her workouts?
