So I'm on my way to San Fran saturday and plan to go to GG on Sunday. How is the place? I see they have $1 beers on Sundays.

Golden Gate is terrific. You should have a great time. Just checked the weather for tomorrow, iffy. If nice you can get a box right on the finish line and really get an up close feel for the races. You'll also be right over the paddock. Full view without having to leave your seat. If it's cold and rainy the Turf Club is a good option. The food is very good. Try the red clam chowder. Wave north Mrs. S and I are just 22 miles away in Marin.

If you plan to go to dinner after the races let me know I'll have about 56 different choices depending on your fancy.

P.S. The great SF Chronical columnist Herb Caen had this quote. " The greatest view of San Francisco is from the mens roon at Golden Gate Fields"

Actually the parking lot is just as good. AMAZING, BREATHTAKING and no urinals.
