There is no handicapping angle where I can see that you could put any money on this horse. Congrats to Gary, but that is honestly a head scratcher. I do know that I don't ever want to put a dollar on a horse coming out that race.

Congrats! The analysis is reasonable but there just aren't enough hours in the day to uncover that.

The horse did have two angles that could have tipped off possible improvment.

The dam was a marathoner sired by Kissin Kris. All of her wins came routing. The sire, Prime Timber, was a closing 4th beaten like 2 lengths in the Kentucky Derby. Today was the first time this horse ever attempted a route.

You also have Sciacca's trainer stats on the bottom -- where the only recent area of strength has been with stretch-outs.

Still...even with projected improvment...that horse was way too slow to bet. Never ran a fig above 49 in those dirt sprints...and five others in the field had run figs in the 60's this year.

The horse ran a 70 today to narrowly hold on. Not a bad type of horse to use for 3rd and 4th...but if you're banking on 20 point move-ups based on pedigree to narrowly win, you're going to see some giant losing streaks.

I believe you are forgetting the pivitol handicapping angle developed by the notable Exacta Bob, "The horse looked so bad, I had to use him!"

However Congrats to Mr Sciacca.

Really Mitch, quoting Exacta Bob at 2:22 in the morning....

He just ran 2nd with the bomb he put over last week at 29/1. Is he using or is the competition at the Big A that weak right now?

Yes. Utterly shocking that La Festa E Domani as well as winner Toccet's Image both paired up mid-40's Beyers in back to back races. Gary and Linda Rice clearly 'using'. Good grief.

Not that i won a lot of races during the Paraneck era, but i was accused of "using" when we won with a huge price that looked impossible on paper. On more than one occasion the winning beyer was in the 20's. Yes, the racing can be dreadful during the winter at the Big A!
