![]() It's Friday Night and it means one thing (for me at least), 10PM eastern post at Hollywood. After the clinic he put on last week, Nick (Pointman) should probably be doing the write up. For me, One bad opinion early cost me the early pick 4/5's which were chalky and a horse I didn't like knocked me out of the late quad. Hoping to do better tonight.
Good Luck! RACE 1 25k CLAIMERS 6 FURLONGSSTART OF THE PICK 5 #3 TONZATROUBLE-(3rd)Back down to the 22k level where he won 2 starts back (5 1/2 fur-Santa Anita). Finished 6th last race out at the 28k level, only about 1 1/2 lengths behind the #4 EL GAUCHO (who had a perfect trip and will be the probable favorite) Tonzatrouble was stuck on the rail and ended up having to go wide. Looking for him to get a better trip this time and should be a better price than the #4. #5 CAT IN THE FOREST(1st $7.20)-Chased a gate to wire winner last out in the slop at Santa Anita, the winner stopped the clock in 1:07/4 after ridiculous fractions (which could definitely be wrong). Couple of good works leading in to the race for the horse that will probably find himself on the lead. #4 EL GAUCHO-Hollendorfer/Rosario taking a drop to his lowest level, get the feeling Hollendorfer just wants him out of the barn. Might try to beat what is going to be a very unattractive price after he had a garden trip last time while running for 32k. Still unsure what to do with him. RACE 2 CLAIMERS 16k N2L 1 1/16 MILES START OF PICK 4 #6 COLOURSOFTHEGLEN-(2nd)Making his second start for the hot Jack Carava. Back to a reasonable level after last races nothing on the downhill turf course. Not a lot of speed in ths race and I'm guessing that this guy will find himself in the front. #7 BOULDER CREEK-(1st $8.40)Has run well since being claimed by Herbert Bacorn, wasn't disgraced on the sod last out and ran 2nd the time before that in against 16k claimers. He chased a loose on the lead 6/5 favorite that day. He too should be near the front of this paceless looking affair. RACE 3 MAIDEN CLAIMERS 30K 1 1/16 MILES #3 DANCING JOY-(2nd)3 year old making his 3rd career start will look to take them wire to wire in a strange looking maiden event. Could get loose with a couple of other possible speedsters talking off the shades. Ran 2nd last out at the same level and was pretty much in a 3 horse duel all the way around the track. #4 ALEX T-One of the other horses involved in that 3 horse duel. Unfortunately for him he was the one that was 3 wide the whole way around until thowing in the towel at the top of the stretch. Hood comes off and will probably look to work more of a stalking trip. #8 T.K. FORTYSIX-(3rd)Ran 2nd in his to tries at the 30k level. Tossing last races disaster on the sod. Shades off and Rosario on for the Hollendorfer runner who will probably be a short price. #5 GAME A.P.-(1st $17.20)If there was ever a time for this 7 year old half million dollar purchase to show he could run a step, this would be it. 3rd off the bench for a trainer that I honestly have never heard of. Back in for a tag and has been competitive around these levels. Thinking the price should be square and he's not running against a bunch of world beaters. RACE 4 O/C 80K N3X 7 FURLONGS #3 DON TITO-(2nd)Ran 5th last out in a G2 race. Looked like Rosario had some horse in the stretch but had to steady with nowhere to go. Not sure he will get the same pace set up but thinking he will be closer to the front today. #5 BET ON VICTOR-(3rd)Coming out of the same G2 race as the #3. He looks like the lone speed in this 5 horse affair. Broke from the 10 slot last out and dueled ridiculous fractions before fading in what was his first start in 10 months. Has a couple of works for his 2nd start off the bench. RACE 5 (S)MD SP WT 1 1/16 MILES TURF START OF THE LATE PICK 4 #3 CHECKMARK-Making his 2nd start off a 16 month layoff. Ran second on his return race after being forced more like 7 wide on the downhill course. Should appreciate the extra ground and has ran 3rd both times going around two turns. Looks like the pace could work in his favor here as well. The price should be right. #8 VISUAL INTENSITY(1st $8.40)-Sise runner looks like he has the ability to rate. Just missed last time in a race where he beat several of these horses. Counting on Rosario not to get involved in a speed duel as the pace here looks like it could be a hot one. RACE 6 (F) STARTER ALLW 6 1/2 FURLONGS #8 LIFT OUR LUCK-(2nd)Looked like he had a ton of run with nowhere to go in his last start across town on the grass. 3rd and 4th place finishers of that race came back to win next out. #4 SPARROW-Took back and looked to rate last out, ran very gamely in the stretch finishing 4th. 2nd off a brief freshening and hoping that new pilot Talamo can rate this 3 year old behind what looks to be a very quick pace. Looks like there is a ton of pace in this race including #7 CHOCOLATE CALIENTE who ran 3rd last time at 2/5. Now he gets to go an extra half panel too. Also Rosario jumps off her to the #3 ALASKA MISS who is coming off a 7 month layoff with some solid drills under her belt. Peter Miller also has the #9 LAKE BELIEVE coming off the bench as well. Not sure whether I will include one of the speeds or maybe even the #2 MAGIC MAMA who is another who figures to be coming late if/when the races melts down. RACE 7 (S) O/C 25K N1X 1 1/16 MILES TURF #5 KIM'S LEADING MAN-(2nd)Steping up after winning in an open starter 12.5 race. Has also been on the improve since being claimed by David Hofmans. Versitile type looks like he could run on the lead or from behind. Hoping Espinoza decodes to come from behind tonight as this race looks to have some pace in it. #6 GAB POWER-(3rd)Won an option 80k last out across town, entered today (not for a tag) and seems to have a big chance. 2nd place finisher of that race came back to win the Snow Chief last out. Thinking Rosario will work out a stalking trip for this 3 year old. #1 TRIBAL NATION-(1st $12.40)If the pace is hot enough this 4 year old could be coming late and at a price. RACE 8 (F) MAIDEN CLAIMING 20K 6 FURLONGS Just looks like an awful race, where if you cast your net wide enough you could snag a balloon to end your evening #7 RIGHT ON RENEE-(2nd)Shows some nice works for her debut, draws Rosario in the irons for a small barn that has won 2/8 races on the year. She's not in against much. #2 CHK CHK BOOM-(3rd)Last seen 9 months ago at Del Mar, she has been respectable in her first 4 starts. Has hit the board in her 2 of 3 starts at the Wood. If ready she has a chance. #5 QUEENOFCALIFORNIA-Drops again has burned a lot of money as the favorite in her last 2. Hasn't been able to close the deal at 5 and 5 1/2 panels and now has to go 6. Does have speed and will be the one up front at a very short price. Far from a lock. #4 J AND S EXPRESS(1st $21.40)-Coming off a 9 month break, wasn't disgraced when running at the Wood last Summer. Working well for her return where she will get lasix for the first time. Maybe that will do the trick. Will post tickets later, enjoy and Good Luck!
