Is this bet not around this year? or have I just been oblivious ?

Sadly, no. It's been oficially cancelled. However, Rick Hamerlee mentioned last week on ATR that their planning something else to take its place, but he didn't elaborate. Not sure if it's just Santa Anita, or with multiple tracks.

They already have a replacement - The Gulfstream Pick 5 (with a 15% Takeout)

The Gulfstream PK 5 is a fun bet, but I think he was referring to multi-track wagers. The Magna 5 is dead. The National PK 4's that the NTRA used to promote on big race days are long gone. I'm not sure why these were phased out, as they always generated big pools.

Even when the 60-minute pick 6 was tested a couple of summers ago, it made me look at tracks like Delaware, Philly Park and Monmouth on a Saturday, when normally I wouldn't have the desire or time to check them out.
