Default Another $8 Billion down the drain

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) accrued a record loss of $8.5 billion in fiscal year 2010, up $4.7 billion from 2009, highlighting financial pressures that are not expected to improve in 2011 or in the “foreseeable future,” according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

The loss was mainly driven by employee benefits and compensation costs, including a $5-billion-plus congressionally mandated retiree health benefits payment and a drop in mail volume.

You can't make this stuff up!

At least this delivery guy didn't get fired. Bet if he worked for UPS he'd be on 3 yrs unemployment instead of getting his raise. No COLA benifits tho.

A Wisconsin postal carrier says he simply wanted to cheer up a woman on his mail rounds who seemed "stressed out." But, upon further review, the postal worker says delivering the mail in the nude probably wasn’t such a good idea.

A police report says the 52-year-old man told the woman he would deliver the mail to her office in Whitefish Bay completely naked to make her laugh. He says the woman dared him to do it, so he took the dare Dec. 4 and brought the mail wearing only a smile.

The mail carrier was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior several days later at the North Shore Post Office. The Journal Sentinel says the man admitted delivering the mail naked was a stupid thing to do.

My dad and uncle work for the post office. My dad is there in the actual post office center for the area, while my uncle works for the admin side of things.

It basically comes down to this, for every 3-4 workers, 1 is actually doing the job while the rest slack off and just watch, while there there is another person to supervise, then there is a manger who supervises the supervisor. Plus there is a good deal of people who physically cannot handle a normal work load, so they are given less or nothing to do while being paid the same and recieving benefits like other full time fully capable wokers. Plus there are machines and technology that billions were paid on that are not being used.
USPS are overpaid, overstaffed, alot of undeserved benefits, and alot of corruption at the highest level. Its kind of like NASA spending $100k, on a wrench used only for one thing
