It's the traditional route to the BC Classic. Maybe he wants him to get used to running under the lights ( I can hear that lame excuse coming already ).

Sounds good maybe the PA and Super Derby will have big fields then

The PA Derby's noms looked really nice-looked like the Travers all over

ALW Exhi
Fly Down Friend or Foe
First Dude Golden Moka
Afleet Express Ice Box
Afleet Again Thiskyhasnolimit
Trappe Shot Trickmeister
Hurricane Ike Ibboyee

Super Derby not so much tho

Anyone know what is going on with Concord Point? Ran 2 great races but thats it-isnt nominated to either race and doubt he runs in the IN Derby now that LaL is going there with his jock?

For what it's worth Hoosier does not run at nights on weekends and this race will be run in the afternoon as far as I know.

Someone in the racing office at Hoosier has won Bob Baffert over as this will now be the 2nd consecutive year he sent a horse to the Ind Derby.

Hoosier has a very long stretch too. Sorta like the track where the BC will be ran this year....

Worthless? PA Derby probably just went from 6 horses to 10 or 11 good horses(Think Travers). I would rather have a good betting race there then have a race with LaL at 7/5 and 6horses which is what the IN Derby now is.

I guess I give LAL a pass for not stepping up vs olders since he has suffered some minor health issues, but the overriding theme of 2010 continues to the graded stakes horses finding the softest spots. Stakes racing in the US this year resembles a starter allowance series.

There are too many "Derbies" for this time of year. Indiana, Super, Pennsylvania, Remington... they all compete for the same depleted horse flesh.

In our case, our stakes coordinator became very sick this summer and missed a lot of time. He's back at work, is a stand-up guy and I wish him the best.

That said, we're stuck at LAD. Given our schedule, the only alternative would be to run the race in October... but every Saturday in October is congested with big races at BEL, HOL/SA... so we'd have no shot to generate the handle dollars we generate on Super Derby Day during that month.

We could pull back into July, but the Swaps - as an example - would be the type of race we'd have, plus it's usually 105 degrees.

So some years we'll get a Blame, other years we won't... that's the spot we're in.

this has been going on for years, with horses dodging each other for most of the season, if not all of it. it's why last years rachel campaign got so much buzz. it seems the only race this year where some of the best faced off was blame vs quality road.
but hey, if zenyatta gets a pass for racing nobodies all year, i guess lookin at lucky can do the same. baffert knows all he has to do is get to the bc in one piece and the 3 yo eclipse is his.
