Default Pablo Escabar

Anyone see the 30 for 30 thing ESPN did on him and Columbian soccer?

I thought that dude was awesome ... I love how he gunned down the ref right in the parking lot for screwing him out of a win.

I hate soccer as much as the next man, but that was a pretty solid doc.

i actually have my alarm set on my phone for sunday at 1pm to watch this. meant to catch it on air the night it first played, but got busy & assumed it would be played again later that night.

It looks really interesting and I've found the 30 for 30 to be the best thing going on tv, especially since 24 is overwith and football is still a couple months away.

Loved the Ali one, and Jimmy the Greek, Ricky Williams one was alright.

Yep, I saw it too. Worth watching. Felt really bad for Andres Escobar, like they said, if Pablo was alive they never would have touched him.

fyi there is going to be a 30 for 30 doc on Secretariat sometime in the future.

(I just came across my Jim Gaffney / Secretariat photo.. Jim passed away not long ago.. he was a nice guy and always a part of my Saratoga summer.. going to bet with him at the $50 window on the 2nd floor by the boxes / resteraunt.. RIP Jim)

On right now if anybody's interested. He was a sick bastard, but Pablo Escobar is probably the most interesting non-American of the last 50 years. The guy came from being dirt poor to being worth $25 billion profiting mostly from Americans' excess and thirst for new highs. And he was as successful as he was because of the Robin Hood persona he acted out for his country. Not sure if there'll be another character like him again, so unlikable (he was responsible for 5,500 murders) yet so fascinating.

Absolutely brilliant documentary all around. 30 for 30 is probably the only thing worth setting your TiVos for on ESPN these days.
