Default Genuine Risk, Thank YOU !! I owe you big

genuine,
Thanks for posting that link to the ragweed article. I went to the DR last evening and got the prescription for that nasal spray. I used it before bed last night and when I woke this morning something seemed out of place, I could actually breathe, my throat didn't hurt, and I had some energy.
WOW! I feel like I just woke up from a bad dream.
I can't begin to thank you enough.

This intrigues me. What is the nasal spray called? I might just ask my doctor for it too. I've been using OTC ones and they seem to do jack. I heard on the news here the other night it is the worst ragweed season in 50 years.

Chup,
It has been the worst on record, its been on all the news channels. I got these allergies as "adult onset" only 5 year or so years ago. One summer about three years ago was bad, but this was just a killer. I've been extremely depressed the last few weeks. Its like waking up and functioning the whole day with a hangover(except that you didn't even drink anything). Headache, sluggish, water retention, eyes hurt, throat hurts, no energy, can't concentrate. Its like the whole world in front of you is in a cloud or has a dreamlike quality. Its so depressing because you wake up and just want to feel normal again.
Just go to your Dr and tell him you have ragweed allergies and want the nasal spray you have heard they prescribe for it. Then head on down to the CVS across from Congress Park and get to it!!! You will be a very happy camper!

Hooray! I'm so glad for you, oracle! You're so sweet to offer the blanket, but it's not necessary, really-- a little Googling was all it took to find the link. You can buy me a beer if/when I finally make it out to Saratoga one of these summers.

Chupster, the reason the OTC things haven't been helping is that I think they aren't specifically for ragweed. Oracle is right; go for the prescription stuff if you can.

All now bow down before the power of Google...

What a good description! I wish my allergies were only to ragweed and could be solved so easily. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to most of the outdoors (trees, grasses, soil molds) so have to get the shots weekly and prescription meds every day and even then, I still have days like you have described. If I ever found a genie who gave me one wish, it would be for health, not wealth.

What surprised me was that I was not allergic to most stuff outside. I had more INDOOR allergies. MOSTLY Dust mites. YIPEE! Flonase is awesome. I do better outdoors than indoors. I really should have a job where I am outside.

I never had any allergies before, then two years ago I got really sick with some sinus and lung infections. Then last year the same thing set in and caused some pneumonia that ruined my hunting season because of a persistent cough. I went through two months thinking I was dying and then a specialist tells me it's just a ragweed allergy. He put me on Singulair and an inhaler this fall and nothing yet, so I'm pretty optimistic.

For me it's mostly cats and dust. My husband has a contact allergy to horses, poor guy.
