If this is really going to be that bad I don't want them to take a chance. Cancel the whole card and run it Sunday.

Should be a most interesting Press Conference, and they need to have one just for the Weather, then that doesn't look good at all. Monsoon may be coming.

Not great but not as bad as feared for tomorrow...

Heavy rains expected 10a-1p with 40mph winds before a window of milder winds (10-15mph) and lighter rain 2-7p that should allow for 'normal' racing conditions.

The most severe and more dangerous weather appears to be arriving 12 hours later than originally forecast. All appropriate plans are in place should they be required.

Also heard they are going to seal track tonight, and there will be no Saturday morning works. Is that true, Steve?

ugh. i dont think its a good idea for me to make my bets today while assuming the track will be wet. oh well

With those winds the track could be fast by the time the derby comes along!

Certainly on the sealing and almost certainly on no training. Big john the CD clocker said earlier he fully expected training, which is abbreviated anyway, to be canceled.

So, should we anticipate any delays tommorow?
If so, when?
What would happen then to TV Coverage?

Doug Hamilton, director of Louisville/Jefferson County Kentucky Emergency Medical Services, said in the case of severe weather, the infield would be the most at-risk area.

“Since the infield is so open, and with the potential for an extreme amount of rain in a short amount of time, we’re concerned about the tunnels and access to the tunnels,” he said. “But we have enough security personnel between those at Churchill and regular police, sheriffs, and National Guard to be able to control those tunnels and access to those tunnels. We also have the means, should access be blocked, to find alternative means to move people out of the infield.”

Was it the Whitney in 2000 when this northern gale blew in at post time ? Must have dropped 20 degrees in minutes and the rain was blowing horizontal as Lemon Drop Kid made it to the wire first .

Storming here in Indy (dog woke me)...lots of rain with more coming. Moving pretty fast. Could be a good window this afternoon though. Our forecaster says it will stall right over us and keep rolling storms along it.

The bad stuff is hitting us in Russellville now. VERY windy, thunder and lightning everywhere. Hopefully this loses steam before it hits the 'Ville.

Everyone PLEASE be careful today and make it home safe.
