![]() Authorities say they believe as many as 30 owners, drivers, trainers and gamblers conspired to fix the outcome of certain harness horse races run at three Michigan tracks.
The Michigan State Police and the Michigan Gaming Control Board executed search warrants Thursday at three southeast Michigan homes as part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent wagering at the tracks. Police say the case involves races at Hazel Park Harness Raceway, Northville Downs and Sports Creek Raceway in Swartz Creek. The tracks themselves aren’t under investigation and have been cooperating with investigators. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/n...,3225483.story |

![]() Race fixing in harness?
I'm shocked! I first attended harness races at Northfield Park near Cleveland in the early 1960's......I think I was in 3rd grade when I lost a "lock" $5 place bet and said "those guys FIXED this race!" OK....I'll just forget about it and have another (Art) bier. |

![]() I was watching a simulcast Thursday - I think it was Meadowlands- and the driver on the lead took his horse damn near off the track on the last turn after navigating the previous three turns with no problem. My friend and I were both screaming fix when he finished off the board...who knows about this stuff.
