UPDATE: Actually stopped once off the main track chute when confronted by a pony. Aaron Gryder (!) happened to be standing by and gathered Cal Flag and walked him back to the Koriner barn. He's fine...

Was standing by David Hofmans when Flag got free. As he steamed by, he ruefully said, "Well... There goes my pace." Hofmans had another great line while passing out Desert Code Breeders' Cup hats to a few friends. "You know Desert Code is undefeated in the Breeders' Cup."

Dave Blaha, Jonathon Bowerman and Joe Kauffman all make the Clocker's Corner scene at Santa Anita today... Kind of an advance party for the slew of DTers seemingly headed this way. Another beautiful morning in SoCal too.

It is so beautiful there! Thanks for posting your photos.

Was that Careless Jewel with her head cranked to the side?

Definitely more people on hand this AM. Took a while for the sun to burn thru the clouds. Photos for Thursday AM below. Have not had time to add captions:

Looks great. Thanks for the pics Dave. I like that the horses wear their saddle cloths with their names on it, makes it much easier to figure out which bay horse it is! I think it was Colonel John in the second set of pictures, maybe #26 - he looks GREAT. Kate Miller was right- Goldikova doesn't look like much right now.

Have a great time. Looking forward to more picutures and updates!

I think if you talk to anybody who was at last year's BC, Goldikova looked like crud there as well.
