Default Monday 5/18 show

Just listening to the debate about the TV show...and NOT showing other races....I had a feeling that Johnny D was going to say ..."" NBC doesnt want to show the other races, because of the betting/ gambleing "?
Have you ever noticed..that NBC doesnt show the payoffs...till allmost going off the air...and could you give all the payouts... Its like a after thought to give a tri, or super payout. Now if this is a valid point... then WHY when NBC showes Football games to they give you the scores of the ""other games""....They are not showing these games... Ohhhhhhhhh thats right.. Money is bet on football games... and in most states its with the local bookie. Only in Nevada is it legal....right ? They spend the whole show giving us the ""odds"".... but could you give us the payouts , before the credits roll ?.... Ok...off my soapbox. !

Btw.. another great show today !!

Steve,

Since HRTV already had "rights" to the pre Preakness races, would NBC have had to pay HRTV for the showing of the races? Would they have had to pay a higher than pre negotiated fee for broadcast rights?

Default Great Show Steve....

I thought Tony Dutrow and Mike Smith were very good. I for one would love to hear more from Smith on some of the great horses he's ridden over his career. Props to you and KC for the good gets.
Oh, and what's the name of Derek Ryan's horse?

Ron,

I doubt it... And if they did, it would be next to nothing. I just don't understand why they think the audience wouldn't be interested.

from bloodhorse:

Smith explained on “At the Races with Steve Byk,” “They are my first call people, and they have done so much for my career. This is an important race (grade I) for Madeo, and I need to be there. I would never ask them to get out of my commitment.”

I like Mike Smith. He is the main draw for me to watch "Jockeys" on Animal Planet. The guy is cool.
