Default Just wondering Oracle....

Does Oracle 80 mean that you were born in 1980? If so, being 26 does explain your puffed up attitude. I was going to Saratoga before you were born. Give some people a little respect

Check his information in his profile, he is in his late thirties I believe. He just had a horse he bought win a grade 1, so he is doing pretty good.

You just have to put him in his place once in a while, but he does have a ton of good and useful knowledge. His attack on Albertrani though was over the line, but just write it off to a gambling loss. He was bashing Gomez earlier in the year and I would imagine it was the same thing. Of course, he will come on this thread and say Gomez and Albertrani suck, but I think that is basically a guy who doesn't want to admit he is wrong. The guy lives in Saratoga, but he could borrow Bold Brooklynites name and it would be fitting. Very much a NYer.

BR, this doesn't change my opinion. He still acts like a puffed up adolescdent who thinks his caca doesn't stink. Rather than going on and on about what a sh!tty trainer Albertrani is because he lost money on Songster, why can't he admit that the great Edgar Prado blew the race? If he is so smart, why is he using a 1/9 horse in his wagering and then blaming the trainer for the loss? If he truly knew anything, he would have realized that the 5 was the only closer in a four horse field with three horses that wanted the lead. Pretty simple if you ask me.

I think he probably had it singled in multi-race wagers.

Regardless, you picking a fight with him is useless. I can guarantee you that

Yes, if anyone blew the race it was Prado. He was up there three-wide on a suicide pace. I don't know if it was necessairly Prado's fault because the horse may have been a little rank. Oracle is very knowledgable but he's not always consitent with his criticisms. I remember once he was bashing Gomez for moving too soon when Gomez took the lead on a horse at the 1/8th pole. Prado takes the lead at the 3/8th pole on Songster which is a 100x more of a premature move, yet there was no crticism of Prado.

By the way, if Prado could have gotten Songster to relax and could have sat about 4 lengths off the lead and not taken the lead until the 1/8th pole, I think he would have definitely won the race.

It seems to me that I have noticed over the years a relatively high percentage of big favorites going down to defeat against small fields. There seems to be a tendency for an incorrect pace which is what I think happened to Songster. Also the fact that the field is small gives an opportunity for the horses at higher odds to get perfect trips and hence optimal performances.
In the Amsterdam you had three speeds and one closer which means the closer had everything his way and no trip issues. In a full field I doubt that Court Folly would have been able to get such a clean run at Songster.

I've seen it the other way too, all closers and one speed in a small field, the big favorite being one of the closers. The riders on the closers don't want to let the lone speed have it too easy so they stay close to the pace and possibly move too early thereby taking their horses out of their normal style.
Suddenly when everyone is expecting the speed to die and the closers to take over the speed finds another gear and the closers are finished.

Slewbopper,
Cut the blaming and put your picks on the selections thread.
Oracle puts his out often, as does Kasept and many others.
So do I.

Do any of us get 100% right?
No.

But if you don't put yours up, your pis s ing in your boots.

Lets see if you pick more winners that "O" or "K" on a days card.
I'd also like to see you give out a P3, P4...or a P6 before it happens.
Time to PUT UP or SHUT UP!!!

Absolutely right. If you don't like what Oracle (or anyone else) has to say that is fine. I have disagreed with him in the past about some stuff and I just replied to the post I disagreed with. If you didn't like what he had to say about Albertrani or whatever, tell him in that post why you think he is wrong. I don't see how starting an entire thread in which to question an individual's credibility based on his age of all things is at all productive. Oracle tends to give out quality information and usually makes solid selections. I don't care if he is 18 or 80.

Post Down the streatch

Well said put up , or shut up.People just want to blast one another,IMO O-80 has more info, inside and out than anyone yet to log on this board.I also I MIGHT AS WELL SAY THE ESPN board also, and for that matter any board out there. Hence his documented 3s 4s 6s. Iam not an as- kisser, but my bank account tells me, do not piss him off and keep your mouth shut when he post a skin! And untillthe antagonist and you know who you are start posting something usefull stop blasting those that do . It is gambling , the worst in the world is a locksmith you know find it on the floor sure thig every time.Well it dont happen that way SO POST SOMETHING,not 3.00, 3.80 how about 13 ,20 17 ,then and only then can you locksmiths have something of value along Oracle level. And by the way Albertrany did run a short horse .
Also, I have never met or talked to Oracle before but maybe now, He might notice my existence on this board, if not you can believe ONE thing! When he post a play I am listening. And win or lose he had reasoning for the pick, not just some pot shot like some of you like to TOUT,

I think I agree with the sentiment of your post for the most part but man....you totally lost me with lines like:
"the worst in the world is a locksmith you know find it on the floor sure thig every time.Well it dont happen that way SO POST SOMETHING,not 3.00, 3.80 how about 13 ,20 17 ,then and only then can you locksmiths have something of value along Oracle level."

I really do not understand what that means.

I wouldn't go that far. There are a bunch of people like the guy who runs the site, BTW, and Cunningham that have a lot to offer too. I actually think everyone that posts here adds something to the board. I have learned a lot from people that wouldn't exactly be called experts like the above. I even have learned from Bold Brooklynite.

Oracle is extremely knowledgeable, but he can be bit moody at times. (Can't we all? ) I can promise you this much... he definitely knows his shiat about picking horses.

You would have been better served to relay your opinion about him to him in private. I am guilty of attacking many people for stupid reasons on this and the other board. It will do nothing but cause you problems and create enemies. No good comes from it. It can be hurtfull to the receiving party you know!

Mike is a very emotional person. I have yet to meet him in person, but I have exchanged emails with him. I have attacked him for some very trivial things when I was in a disilusional (spell check me) state. He obviously became very angry with me, and let me know how he felt. In time, he forgave me for my shortcomings and I consider him a friend, albeit we have not met yet. It takes a real man to forgive someone like me who said some very cruel things about him on a public forum more then once.

Just my 2 cents,

Curt P
