Default Violent thunderstorms expected tomorrow at spa

Looks like tomorrow will be cooler but a washout as far as grass goes. Forecast is for violent thunderstorms as the cooler front comes in. This isn't exactly a week to remember for weather at the spa.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have to cancel half the card tomorrow. Maybe somebody at NYRA could get their head out of their ass and make a supercard for saturday or sunday with 15 races, with only 20 minutes between each race.

How you gonna get the jockeys back to the jocks room, washed off, silks changed, saddle-pads adjusted, weighed out and out to the walking ring in 10 minutes or less? Have different sets of jockeys every other race?

They already are planning on running next Tuesday. I think they probably will lose atleast half the card tomorrow though.

They can do it Ann. They just have to hustle a little. I remember where it would only be 15 minutes between races at turfway. There is way too much dead time in horse racing. But i do think 20 minutes between racesis good.

I would like to see Saratoga do a split card. They could run 7 races in the morning with a post time of 10am. Then they could run 7 more on the same day with a post time of 3pm.

That would be a great idea. Split the day up like a double-header. Brilliant. They could do that on Sunday. Saturday already has enough juice all on its own.

I think it would be great. I would push the afternoon start back to 4:30 or 5. I would market this as breakfast and dinner at the Spa - or something like that.

Great ideas. Not the easiest thing to pull off as there are many logistics involved. Hope they can do it, would enjoy it

Go NYRA, Go NYRA, its your birthday....

won't be fun for the people @ the sales ground to try dealing with yearlings in the heat and storms...just a little bit of water and those stalls flood.

We got one here in "good ole' " Fonda about 3:15pm today, lots of wind, lightning and a short downpour. A little cooler, but still humid. What a crazy meet weatherwise so far. How you been hitting them Mike???

Just got in to Saratoga today for three days of racing. I hope I can actually see three full cards.

For those that are up here for the whole meet, missing today and having it made up later is probably no biggie, but when you are only here for three days....

Here's hoping the storms miss tomorrow. I am capping for them to come off the turf tomorrow although it could probably use a good dousing or two after baking these past few.

Looking forward to some Carolina BBQ tomorrow.
