Default Sirius/XM Merger

I for one don't like it. They gave the ax to some of my favorite shows, channels and DJ's. Like everything else, greed is getting in the way of what could be a good thing.

Herk - what channels have they canceled/replaced? I haven't noticed anything on the Sirius side, only that you can purchase an additional XM package, but know they were talking about consolidating some of the channels - I guess the ones I listen to aren't affected.

"Many of the themed genre stations, however, were either axed or assimilated into one station. For instance, Sirius’ college rock mainstay Left of Center is done, replaced by XM’s similar XMU. The by-the-decades stations are now categorized as “’60s on 6,” “’70s on 7,” etc. A pair of Rock Daily’s favorite Sirius stations, Lithium and First Wave, thankfully managed to survive, while XM’s alt-rock trio of stations Fred, Ethel and Lucy learned their satellite days are over."

The Beat was replaced by BCM.

Disorder is gone, The Vault is gone, and I think some others.

I always felt that XM had way better music channels than Sirius did, but Sirius had better talent (Howard, Steve, etc.)

When I had XM, I enjoyed Fred, Ethel, Lucy, so it's too bad they are gone - I thought that the Bone Yard was miles better than Hair Nation, yet that's still around - go figure.

So much for those of us who are XM for baseball who still didn't get Byk despite a two year hot stove vigil for ATR but they syndicate that cachyphony dim wit Russo sans Mike.

Although I had heard of him (Mike and the Mad Dog) I never had the pleasure of experiencing his show until he came to Sirius.

I tried to listen to it for like 30 seconds until my ears started to bleed.

What an annoying human. The man has the personality of a used tampon.

How in the world he ever reached the level of success to assume the position and contract he received from Sirius is incomprehensible to me. Maybe helps to explain why their stock is a quarter.

Still awaiting an answer on this.. I'm beginning to doubt it as I think they would have told us already. There is a better chance they will make us available as part of an ala carte Sports package.

Steve, I just sent something to XM to see what their reply is on this. I'll let you know what they come back with.
I will say that XM just added in about a dozen more channels about a week ago, mostly music that sirius had, that XM didn't.... but added a couple sports ones, ex: Mad Dog getting his own channel. They were also NOT a part of the Stern/NFL/Nascar package, but were added to the std XM package (which anyone that previously had XM is on). Was hoping the show would be in it.

Living in Jersey until 10 years ago, I have had the "pleasure" of listening to Mike and the Mad Dog. He was the personification of style over substance, although his style was mostly inane ranting. The back and forth between he and Francessa used to be somewhat listenable.

Not only did Sirius give him his own 5 hour daily show, but they are allowing him to program his own channel?? I have been able to handle about 5 minutes a day, during Steve's commercial breaks.

Awful business decision.
