Default Midnight Lute

Any chance Baffert runs him back this Saturday at Saratoga, Why not ? Yesterday clearly took nothing out of him, and him vs Benny vs Lucky Island is a amazing race.

I actually was thinking the same thing that PG was. He never broke out of a gallop basically.

I doubt he'd do it though, but I think if ML wasn't hurt yesterday, he'd trounce those horses in the Forego.

I might be wrong but I thought I heard Edwards say he caught a quarter in the race or something. I was drafting my Fantasy team and trying to watch at the same time in a loud bar so I could be wrong.

Yeah, you are the second person to mention that here. That would be problematic, though I have to admit, I don't know what grabbing a quarter means.

Anyone?

You bend down and pick up a quarter on the floor..grab it and put it in your pocket

I was there in person and he was bleeding profusely from his fetlock, when a horse clips the back of their fetlock ( ankle) with the hoof of the back foot it's called grabbing a quarter.

That sounds like something The Indomitable DrugS would do.

LARHAGE, thanks for the explanation!

The best part of watching Midnight Lute not run was seeing Hank Goldberg chase his losses on Saturday by pouring it on ML and some silly exacta boxes on a horse off a 9 month layoff on a new surface. I still don't understand why he gets to give his opinion on ESPN. It' s not like he's articulate or charismatic. Basically a bumbling idiot and crappy handicapper.

Sounds like something M LUTE would do. This horse should of been called "Baby Fry Loot." Hasn't he been beaten as major chalk in 4 of his last 6? Unless it's sloppy, I just don't understand playing this individual.

Yup ML's got a boo boo. Baffert said the Vosburgh was a 'no way.' ML got sore today. I hope he didn't just blow a whole year of racing. Ghostzapper's one race season wasn't much better really. Sure you get a G1 but c'mon, kind of a let down. I know it's a bit of an overreaction to think that grabbing a quarter could end the year but it's not that many months til the BC and ML's been out with hind end drama til now. I frankly think Baffert's not just BSing the claustrophobia thing--between that and the Polytrack he's not lovin' his experience in Cali right now looks like.

He was hot in the paddock and the gate, than he broke awkwardly and thats when they tend to grab quarters. He is very fragile and it's a shame, he's a very exciting horse to watch.

Which is why he is on.

He had to make "the walk of shame", Kenny Maine's
euphemism for having to go back the the ATM. Which
Goldberg had to make. And then he promptly lost again.

Seeing guys go back for more cash in the 9th or 10th on
a card... a poignant moment.

So that was his first race since the BC right? I guess that angle of ignoring those coming back from the BC really does work.

hard to say how long he could be off, since it depends on how much hoof he removed. if he just dinged himself, that's one thing, but if they have to wait for the hoof to grow out, it could be months.
