Default Oracle--Advice Please

I am in a handicapping contest this Saturday at Keeneland. Two of the 6 mandatory races are from Saratoga. They are races 2 and 8. Any help on information would be appreciated.

I don't know what Oracle will suggest, but pardon me for butting in... in race 2.. I hear the frankel horse (First Defence--6-1 m/l) is not too bad.. In Race 8... It's all LADY OF VENICE(2-1 m/l) .. Good luck in the contest!

Thanks Zippy. I will appreciate any help I can get. I really dont know the horses and tracks all the well in New York. I wasnt pleased to see 2 races from Saratoga being mandatory races.

Lady of venice goes down in flames like the Hindenburg. Oh the humanity, sob.
Her sheet numbers are no faster than about 5 in here. She beat nothing in her US debut and last time out had a ridiculously fast pace ahead of her to close into, the steadying doesnt negate that she was loping in the back behind a torturous duel.
She will really have to step up her game to beat these and as a heavy fave I would toss her out of the top slot with no hesitation.

Bounce....warning...Saratoga got the name "graveyard of favorites" based on such locks in big races. In other words, most your opponents will play LOV, look around for an upset.

Does not look like much pace unless LoV herself goes out so it's all trip and kick. I don't see Lady of Venice passing 3-4 of these late. I'd use Angara, Sweet Talker and My Typhoon in multi race bets. If Typhoon goes 5-1, I'll bet her to win and ex boxes with the other two.

R2 First Defence - The word is out. Pletcher's Bullara will take the money otherwise this one will be crushed at the windows. 12-1 m/l on the 6, Regal Officer seems a bit out of line. Blinkers on will put this one into the race and into the exotics for sure.

R8 My Typhoon - Don't hesitate to go against Lady of Venice. That should be automatic in a contest as well as your own money.

I think I might be taking a nice price on Sweet Talker. Dominguez must be in town for a reason. Hard to take a short price on Lady of Venice, but might just be the best.

match your turf pick to the ground. is there any cut at all? or is the turf hard and fast, choose accordingly.

I have the feeling this is the type of day where I should have gone deeper where I single, and should have singled where I spread my tickets... so I think I'll lay off today and wait for Oonagh Maccool on Sunday.
As for today, I stand by First Defence as a good choice, but there are certainly plenty of quality horses that can beat Lady of Venice this afternoon.. I will be rooting for LOV though. Good Luck.

In the contest we had to bet rces 2 and 8. Unfortunately, everyone in the contest had the same horses. Lukas's horse is a good one. I saw it run in the Bashford Manor and was pretty impressive. Plus when you see Circular Quay in the line then you will bet it. Got 2-1 but everyone had it. Apparently Angara killed a bunch of people in the contest last as she was the horse to play but Sand Springs took the field wire to wire. With no speed this year everyone jumped on Angara as well. We got 7/2 on her. The only other Saratoga race I played was the 1st and nailed that one. My biggest hit f the day was Monmouth race 4. Fast Act an offspring of Theatrical was 2nd time on turf and the odds were 29-1. Unfortunately, the Monmouth was not a contest track. But I went to watch the race replay and Fast Act had a HORRIBLE trip. I could not believe a Theatrical horse was getting off at 29-1. The race had plenty of speed and the 10 flew by them with ease and won. Oh, I had $50 and $50 on Fast Act.
