Default The Most Talented Horse Ever

Why is it when a horse whens a race by 5 1/4 lengths he is called the most talented horse they have ever see.

I thought Silver Charms was talented because he would wait on horses so he could win by a nose.

Don't know too much history
were there a lot of horses that could play the star spangled baner on a wash tub, juggle or sing?

Okay first of all I like your screen name, but that being said I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.
If football team A beats football team B 56-3, are you saying that it would have been more impressive if they had beaten them 21-20. If that is what you are saying...........well it just makes no sense.
As for Silver Charm (not Silver Charms) he was a very good horse, are you suggesting that he (or some other horse that barely wins his races) is the most talented because they put on a great show by purposely winning by a nose?

I have NO idea how to respond to the last part of your post. It is even more insane than the first parts of it.

First, welcome to the board!
Secondly...are you @#&*@ nuts??
Just kidding!
I think that while it is more exciting when a horse wins by a nose, they don't appreciate that! A horse, any horse, will run as fast and as far as it can...if it's enough to win by a nose or a football field, they will do what they can do! The most impressive race I ever saw was Secretariat's Belmont...wasn't a lot of doubt concerning the outcome but it surely demonstrated his superiority! There is indeed an old saying at the track that the great ones always win the close races...their heart just wills them across the line first. Tiznow was a perfect example of this...he simply refused to lose in both BCC races! Anyway...most talented horse ever? Secretariat!

Somerfrost,
I second your thoughts on welcoming Cricket to the board, and also about Secretariat.
Now...about "talented horses"...
There's one at the farm that makes farts that sound like the first six notes of "My Old Kentucky Home". You have to hear it to believe it!
My guess is that she's self taught.

i'd say you should record that, but how do you explain to someone with a straight face you took time outof your life to record your horse passing wind, lol..

I would love to hear what those NBC announcers who say the words "people start to tear up when they hear 'My Old Kentucky Home" about 402 times during their Derby coverage EVERY YEAR would have to say about this horse. Would Tom Hammond cry every single time this horse farted?

I really liked the mule that was kicking feild goals, I just can't remember his name. Mr. Ed was pretty good. Did Ed ever drive a car?
