Default Schuylerville/Saratoga

Heres one hint on opening day. The best clocker alive told me before Cotton Blossoms debut that she was the goods. He also tells me that she is LOTS better than her debut suggests. Not that her debut was bad, it earned the second best TG sheet number in the field, but man said she was green that day attempting to lug in and that the race was nowhere near indicative of how good she really is. Make sure you send it in heavily on her. Her average beyer speed fig may actually lend rare value to a Pletcher/Velazquez horse. Don't say i didn't tell you.

Mike...I am already drooling. Going to the OTB and pick up the DRF for tomorrow. Gonna bury my face in the form tonight and then head to the OTB tomorrow to play the card.

No way I am missing opening day at Toga.

Default Thanks Oracle

Also, the 4 sheet number the outside Breen filly earned looks like could be the prelude to a bounce...

The Schuylerville S. (G3) makes its return on Opening Day at Saratoga after a one-year respite. Nine juvenile fillies are expected to enter the starting gate, which includes an entry. The lone runner in the field boasting more than just a single victory on her resume is the Kelly Breen-trained DESIRE TO EXCEL (Mt. Livermore), who annexed the Astoria S. by five widening lengths earlier this month at Belmont Park.

Other notables in the feature include COTTON BLOSSOM (Broken Vow), who is trained by Todd Pletcher. Cotton Blossom was a facile winner in her Monmouth Park debut in June, and has trained regularly since that effort, including a "get acquainted" work over the Saratoga main track last week. Also expected to attract support at the mutuel windows are AUDACIOUS CHLOE (More Than Ready), also trained by Pletcher, and CHIEF OFFICER (Officer), who decimated a field of New York-breds in her unveiling and will be equipped with first-time Lasix for the Schuylerville. She will be coupled in the wagering with BARONESS THATCHER (Johannesburg).

No knock on your friend, but these figures are useless for two year olds. Aren't you the Circular Quay guy. That horse has been very slow, but you seem to like him. With two year olds they move too much from race to race. Sometimes it is just that something goes off in their head and they figure things out. Betting heavily into any 2yr old race at Saratoga is not a wise move.

The entry prob will be the favorite and deservingly so. But no way do I touch this race. Cotton was very very green in the debut, and who is to say that the horse still isnt green. If Cotton is green in this race, the horse will lose. I like the potential of about 3-5 runners in this field, but I dont think this is a good betting race at all.

While this horse ran greenly, isnt this a reason to see improvement? I havent looked at the pps but I will say thanks for the inside info Ora.

thanks for the heads up Oracle-any info that can help separate these 2yos is helpful. I read in the DRF that Mott plans to scratch Chief Officer.

I'll go with Desire To Excel in this one. Angel Island has the pedigree I like. But she's been off 97 days after her winning debut. The connections changed trainers from Asmussen after the win to Blasi. Seems unusual here.

Desire To Excel.

Very often horses display high talent in the morning that doesnt translate right away to the races. It takes some horses a race or a few races to put it together. I found my friends info to be quite useful. If you look at a horses debut and don't have any insight that perhaps the horse is better than it showed(even in a winning, albeit green, effort) then you only have that race to go on. Its quite useful to know to expect an improved and faster effort.

The horse looked good. Looked much much better than his last effort. After all the info Oracle gave out (and who couldnt agree) I still couldnt make myself bet this race. These 2 year olds scare me a little--lol. But great info Oracle. Hey, I am in a handicapping contest this weekend at Keeneland--Saratoga is a track where I can wager--any info would be awesome.
