Welcome back Paul,
Nice pic. Good report today.
Cast was changed and he keeps fighting.
It's a long way out of the woods but with so many rooting for him, I'm hoping he finds the path.

hope so to, its still tough to believe the derbywinner was almost killed in the preakness, truely a historical event.
thats 2 years in a row the derby winner has lost his racing career on the pimlico dirt.

I've never been to Pimlico. Might be something about the turns but I really don't know.
Now, after all the "bad stuff" that's been happening, some writers are pouring gasoline on the fire (see the thread about Arlington).
Man! I'd love to see every horse go into the post sound and come out the exact same way.
Seems to me, that like everything else in life, there comes a risk with trying to win. That's racing. That's life.
Winners find a way to capture our hearts.
And so do some of the "also rans" that give their hearts, and lives.

Barbaro has captured many folks hearts. I sure hope he makes it.

But only one can be truly blamed on the Pimlico dirt. It wasnt the track's fault that Afleet Alex injured himself...

Also, prayers for Barbaro! And nice to see you back Paul! Stay a while this time

I don't remember Giacomo losing his racing career last year in the Preakness.

I was thinking the same thing miraja. Isn't Giacomo still racing or atleast in training?

Races Saturday at DelMar in the San Diego Handicap. Trainer says dont expect much from him at 8.5f except for him to be moving late. My guess is a solid 3rd, about 7-9 lengths behind the winner (whomever that will be)

Thanks for clearing that up. I was scratching my head.
I was thinking of AA on his turn for home. The track didn't cause Barbaro's injury. Most agree that it was an unfortunate step.
And, no...I don't want to "open a can of worms" with those that disagree.
We've discussed this a while ago.

I don't think you can blame either specifically on Pimlico's dirt. Barbaro took a bad step, that could have happened on any track.( I don't know the answer for sure why he took the bad step, but I haven't heard many blame the track conditions that day).. and AA was nearly knocked over by another horse, the dirt has an alibi!
