Yeah, he realized it was a big mistake after the fact. He was at work and didn't have time to look at the pools.

yeah but hindsight. I mean if War Pass hits the board welcome to .10 payoff. Who would've thought War Pass was going to lose much less not even hit the top 3?

A big mistake? The $30 win bet returned $246
The $5 show bets on everyone except War Pass returned $323

Easy to say it was a mistake after the race was run, but not many counted on War Pass finishing off the board

Even though War Pass towered over everything in that race on form - you have to wonder what is going through someones head when they are willing to risk large sums of money to try and make a $0.05 profit on the dollar on any horse race,

Let alone one with a horse who you knew going in was clearly very likely to be taken out of his game and given an education.

The closest thing I've ever seen to a rational bridgejumping situation was when Medaglia D' Oro raced against four other tomato cans in the Oaklawn Park Handicap. You got $0.10 on your dollar because of the rules in Arkansas - and the horse who ran 2nd in that race, Slider, had been running at Mountaineer. MDO was also an older horse who always fired - and he was trained by the most careful good horseman you'll ever see.

Proud to say I had some on Atoned across the board. Couldn't predict War Pass to fade to nothing but suspected he might have trouble with the surface switches. Slop at Monmouth, very fast GP and then on to a sandy track. That plus a rating experiment made 1/9 look kind of foolish.

The talking heads on TVG were anointing him and barely addressed anyone else. Too funny.

That is true. It is easy to say something like that in hindsight.

He said that he didn't think War Pass would be off the board when I talked to him last night.

A $5 show bet on all but WP would cost $30 with a guaranteed return of $10.50 so you are actually betting $19.50 to return $323
