ON C-span now gambling ban discussion
The House will be given 1 min speeches on the internet gambling ban on C-Span. For those of you who care, try to wade thru the BS and listen.
Right now they are BSing about a whole bunch of diff. issues. Eventually they will get down to business. I should think this board would be very interested in this issue.

LOL...The Dems don't care.They are talkin' about the minimum wage.Waste of their time.Repubs ain't gunna raise that MIN. WAGE. They don't give a sht about how those poor people live.Why do they think they can pass that? So far,3 Republicans from the South urging support for the bill.Just like Scud said...Southern Social Conservatives..So far Georgia,Virginia,and Tennessee trying to tell the rest of the country how to live their lives.Why am I not surprised.

Oh my God, I am so tired of elected officials legislating morality. Because gambling is entertainment for the majority of Americans-- an entertainment that some people get addicted to, yes, but if it wasn't gambling it'd be alcohol or eBay or porn or state-run lotteries or collecting doo-dads or whatever.
Though really, I'm sure it's about the money and the states not wanting to get cut out of their pieces of the pie. It's always about the money.

While this bill may pass the house. there is no way that it will pass the senate so all they are doing is wasting time and money instead of debating about real topics.

That Yenta from Vegas was hilarious.Trying to get the bill beat by pointing out the hypocracy of allowing some internet gambling(horses,and Lotto,)but make all other forms illegal.She put up an ammendment that would outlaw all forms of internet wagering,and get rid of the exemptions for horses and Lotto.See,these guys who say internet gambling needs to be stopped due to people getting addicted,will be shown to be hypocrates if they vote against her amendment(which they are now voting on electronically.)

IN that entire discussion Barney Frank was the only one who made sense to me. And he is not one of my favorites.
Legislation to save people from themselves has shown time and time again not to work. And all the discussion about getting young kids hooked. If they were really worried about the younger generation getting hooked on something, the prohibition of alcohol would be the thing to do. And we see how well that has worked. Alcohol and drugs have broken up so many more families and ruined young peoples lives compared to gambling. Ridiculous trying to legislate behavior at this level.

Did anyone actually listen to the diff. Congressmen and women talk?
Everyone of them I heard for the legislation to ban internet wagering said there would be no jobs created and no finiancial gain from taxes. Even the ones opposed did not even bring up the subject. Makes me think the numbers show that it will have little economic impact.

You know who this will bug the most.Not me,I play sports maybe anywhere from once a week to once every 2 months.It just depends.I Usually switch from horses to sports if I am struggling with horses.I play horses mainly on TVG.It will bother the people who play Pinnacle,but they can go to a "legal" book online horsebetting site.I'll tell ya who it will bother.It will bother these guys that like to play all that Poker online,and people who play baseball /basketball games everyday etc. Have to see how it all gets messed up.
