Get Paid At The 1/2 Mile Pole Tomorrow at Calder you can select the horse in the 6th race to be in the lead at the 1/2 mile pole and wager on it as the 5th race. I haven't seen everything yet but getting closer.

does anyone know does this works? did they install a finish line camera on the backstretch for the race? how are they going to determine the winner if it's a head bob? given that you can bet on a race within a race doesn't that raise questions about which race a horse was entered for? what instructions is the trainer giving the jockey? which finish line are they aiming for? if a connection can make money betting on a horse to run in a fashion that compromises their chances of winning the (1 mile) race why wouldn't they do that? i'm not sure i want to bet on a race with multiple finish lines.

Is there a purse offered for the first horse to cross the halfway point? I get the gist of it, most of the time it is easy to predict the frontrunners early in the race, but is this bet legit?
